View Full Version : TRF xB bodykit *PIC*
TRF_USA 07-10-2004, 07:00 AM Hi Guys
I made it! 5minutes before Saturday!
I am sorry, East Coast people to keep you awake until 3AM
This is the kit I have been working on for the past month
The MSRP for the kit is set at $550 for the complete kit; however there will be an introductory price through Scion Sport Tuning and Island Motorsports, so you guys will be expecting to pay $4?? for this kit.
The kit will be molded from the factory kit to ensure proper fitment. I have sent one set of the OEM kit oversea for the factory to work on already. The wait time for this kit will be a little longer than I expected because I rather spend more time for better product than try to have it done quicker by cutting corners. I am expecting another 6 to 8 weeks for the kit to land here.
Now, I know a lot of you are ready for getting a kit for your xB. I am creating this poll just to see if you like the design or not. If you are interested to be on the waiting list for this kit, please e-mail/PM/call me, Adrian (scioninla) or Nilo (XBBOY) to put your name on the waiting list. The list is just for me to know how many people are interested in the kit, it doesn’t mean that you have to buy it.
If you have further questions, please feel free to post it and let me know.
ENJOY! Thanks :D

LuxNova 07-10-2004, 07:02 AM FINALLY!
I must say, that kit is badass. It is officially in the running for my kit.
Question-what fills the big opening up front, any kind of grill in particular?
J_A_Trevino 07-10-2004, 07:04 AM i think its pretty cool, theres something abot it though. i havent quite put my finger on it yet but i dont know i let yo know after i stare at it for a while. but it looks ok.
Uno1200mob 07-10-2004, 07:08 AM yeah, its 3 A.M. here on the east coast...but well worth the wait. im interest!
XBBOY 07-10-2004, 07:16 AM That's what I'm talking about...Great job on the kit Tim...nice lines and great styling....hhhmmm wonder who gave you some of those ideas??? :)
That'll be the nest kit on my xB fo sho...
mikochu 07-10-2004, 08:20 AM oh my, that's hot! any plans for the xA or tC?
bBted 07-10-2004, 08:54 AM that looks bada$$.....any plan for polyurathane kit?? (sp?)
TRF_USA 07-10-2004, 09:19 AM that looks bada$$.....any plan for polyurathane kit?? (sp?)
Yes, this kit will be produced using polyurathane :D
DenZinz 07-10-2004, 09:32 AM Tim,
Nice renderings!
I dont want to hijack your thread..but here is an idea for the side...

Yes, this kit will be produced using polyurathane :D
Sold....   a kit my wife can drive with!
scioninla 07-10-2004, 10:07 AM Tim,
Nice renderings!
I dont want to hijack your thread..but here is an idea for the side...
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v296/denzinz/scionlife/trfkit02_rev_dh.jpg
Personally Tim..I like Denny's rendition of the kit.
This is why the thread is here...to get everyone's input. This is your chance to let us know what you would like to see. The one's the get the most response will more than likely be the end product.
Also, I have to agree with Tim in regards to not rushing the kit. The tooling is real expensive plus with polyurethane, it has to fit perfectly Unlike fiberglass, you can't really cut it up and reglass it etc. I know people heat the polyurethane up and make very slight adjustments..but that is the extent of it.
I know when I had a Mugen kit on my CRX, it was really nice and it fit perfect. My friends Wings West "Mugen" style kit had to be redone just to make it fit.
In 6-8 weeks, we'll see the results and check the fitment and then once everything is ok..then they would go on sale.
Once, again, please give us your input on the design. All suggestions will be put into consideration. Thanks in advance.
Max2k 07-10-2004, 12:35 PM Lose the opening on the very bottom with the 2 braces in it, it's hideous. I can't photoshop it, but i'm sure you can figure out what I mean.
Munch 07-10-2004, 01:07 PM Yeah I like the side skirt that DenZinz made. In think that looks way better than the other one.
Al-Truistic 07-10-2004, 01:23 PM Is there a shot of the kit in profile? I'd lbe interested in seeing how the rear wheel well looks with the new rear lip.
squirrel 07-10-2004, 01:29 PM
DAMN! That's hot Tim!
Ok, this is just my opinion now, but is it possible to get a kit w/o the three openings on the front lip?
I guess I better start collecting those pennies out of the gutter now!
DJ_X_Trodinaire 07-10-2004, 03:38 PM finally i can vote!
az_pinoy 07-10-2004, 03:50 PM i like it!...and i like DenZinz rendition of the side skirts...$550, polyurathane, and from a reputable company...i'm sold
JC
Krmit 07-10-2004, 04:00 PM I got to admit that Denz version works for me. Great work Tim!
It would be interesting to see the front and back w/o the openings on the very bottom.
BraveLittleToaster 07-10-2004, 04:01 PM I dont like the front lip but I do like DenZinz side skirts. Not to offend anyone its just my input.
Al-Truistic 07-10-2004, 04:27 PM I think the original sideskirt is nice and I really like how the detail coming off of the rear lip is continued into the sideskirt. The Denzinz idea is kind of abrupt and makes the rear lip's detail less cohesive in the whole design.
I'm really interested in seeing if the rear lip fills the lower gap of the back of the tire and the inside of the rear well, it always seemed to "pointy" or abrupt unless you are close to the ground, then it doesn't really make any difference .
The front lip is very detailed with some interesting touches and I like how it doesn't flare out too much...
DenZinz 07-10-2004, 04:40 PM Thanks guys...
I also did this really late last night but didnt post it...Its really rough... I believe Tim's front and rear bumpers work well together, but doesnt work well with the side skirts. There is something about verticle lines and horizontal lines that dont work well together... Anyways here is my rough concept of the front..It probably needs more smoothing out, but something about 2 in the morning just wasnt motivatiing anymore
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v296/denzinz/scionlife/trfkit01_rev_dh_02.jpg
BLKTOYBOX 07-10-2004, 04:43 PM I like it I'm down for one i do like the flip and of the side skirt denny put in. Not sure how others feel but I'm not a big fan on the middle opening on the Scion between the fogs I think it would looks supper clean with it gone, but thats my opinion. I would do a rendering but I need to throw a copy of Adobe back on the laptop, if someone would like to give it a shot please post it.
How low is this kit going to be, because I know the last one had to modded to fit onto Box's that are already lowerd. Well when it comes out put me down for one and I hope to have some $$$$ saved by then. Very nice and good work TIM. You the man.
TRF_USA 07-10-2004, 05:21 PM Thank you all for the suggestions and ideas
For the next 3 weeks I can still make changes for the kit
But just to let you guys know, the real product can probably only look 90% to 95% like the picture.
I will take everyone's suggestion into consideration! :D
lavabox 07-10-2004, 05:30 PM I love the original rear, I love the denzin sides, and I like the original front better than the second photoshop. I am not a big fan of the huge front opening in bodykits. It seems overdone and "old". This car does not a need radical cooling intake like some intercooled race car, so style is more important than doing a look that has been done too much already.
wyldkard 07-11-2004, 12:00 AM I like the DenZin side skirts too...maybe change the front bumper to retain the original OEM sized opening, that way people could run the lower billet or mesh grilles to do something with the opening. Also how much lower will it be than stock?
-Z
Phaze23LBC 07-11-2004, 12:34 AM OMG!!! I am definetely feeling the body kit Tim! I likes, I likes! But I think I'd wanna go with Denny's side skirts though. If you can have these kits in within two months, I say put me down for one! :D
Victor
XBBOY 07-11-2004, 10:30 PM Again thanks for everyones input...Denny's suggestions and mods are nice, thanks Den...Nish and I also talked about the vents on the side skirts being in the rear portion a while back when we first seen it..looks nice and can't wait for the final rendition...Thanks to Tim for giving everyone a input on the kit and hope all will like the final product...coming soon. SST and Island will be offering the kit at a nice introductory price when it is ready, somewhere around the $4**. range, we'll keep you all updated. Peace
XBBOY 07-12-2004, 04:39 PM bump...for toy_xbox
Toy_xbox 07-13-2004, 08:26 PM bump...for toy_xbox
Thanks... is your box going to be the demo? If not mine is available it is always being tore apart :D you know how I am!!!
xtremeOrange 07-13-2004, 08:40 PM I like the DenZin side skirts too...maybe change the front bumper to retain the original OEM sized opening, that way people could run the lower billet or mesh grilles to do something with the opening. Also how much lower will it be than stock?
-Z
I'm in favor of that, although maybe the grill from the Lava's will fit the lower opening...seems about right. Could order one for a slightly outrageous fee from Toyotaparts I'm sure.
Smaller openings or not, I love the kit! Put me down as a definite yes, either version.
Shifter 07-14-2004, 12:20 PM I like it......but i uldnt buy it....Im looking for that bBist cf lip kit....if you drop yours in CF ill get it lol
MrSmiley 07-14-2004, 12:29 PM I like it with den's sideskirts and I think I'd like it better if the holes on eiter side of the front bumber were gone. I think the corner "pillar" area would look better clean. Nice work Tim
Toy_xbox 07-14-2004, 02:45 PM How about a O'scool Supra light conversion panel for the tailgate, like they use to do on the mini trucks?

DenZinz 07-14-2004, 03:40 PM How so? Explain. As from what i can tell with the shadows and highlights, it doesnt look PSed.
Munch 07-14-2004, 03:44 PM How so? Explain. As from what i can tell with the shadows and highlights, it doesnt look PSed.
Look at the taillights. That is clearly from another picture. Then the door in the reflection isn't even in the same spot after the taillights. It's a good chop butr not great    .
XBBOY 07-14-2004, 04:12 PM Yeah Den, Ithink Munch is right, Dave told me about his idea and hesaid he was playing with the ideas on his car.
great ideas though..That mini cooper exhaust look is nice..
squirrel 07-14-2004, 04:52 PM http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RAD3AjwUr7Ha6OXszd94YfgaL6D462SgeKujfQKDiDHSMG5nsmG6PXwvAYz4KQtc*jPWyy22IHvpPGt0dcaytt9X5keU63vyb4q67ieuRCY/MMFkit1.jpg?dc=4675480550081046618
Dave, that's really, really nice. I wish I was as talented w/ PS. I see that Denny, you, and I think alike sometimes. I wonder if that';s good or bad? I was wanting to do some kind of center exhaust whenever I got around to doing a body kit too.
Toy_xbox 07-14-2004, 05:15 PM Yeah I've playin with PS... but I do have two sets of Supra lights and some fabricated steel housings just haven't decided on doing this or maybe even some GTR stuff... by the way I do suck at PS :P but it is cool to play with

neckbonenick 07-14-2004, 05:19 PM Sorry to say I am dissapointed. Wasn't this kit supposed to emulate the NKB. If so its way off. You don't need all those fancy vents and everything the NKB is awesome because of its simplicity. Do you have to put vent holes in everything? TACKY

Talk about touchy  Pop a chill pill 8)

I think you might've been mistaken, this kit was not suppose to emulate NBK or any other kit..it was made from scratch and completely original. I think there are enough kits in the market with the nice simple subtle lines already like Ken style, Fab, ect.... Tim did design a simple kit before for Red Genie, this new TRF kit is meant to be different and the vents are cool which makes this kit unique IMO.
BLKTOYBOX 07-14-2004, 05:51 PM I agree with Nilo this kit is hot hot hot, diferent and did I mention hot hot hot. If I can save enough cash for when it comes out i'm rockin this kit.

its_ikon 07-16-2004, 08:05 PM I like rear bumper a lot. the side skirts and front bumper need a little more work, but it is a great start.
TRF_USA 07-20-2004, 10:45 PM Hi guys
Some updates on the kit:
I have pretty much decided to move the vents on the side skirts towards rear of the car. Like I mentioned before, I want to create a kit with your advices in mind.
I will post a new picture soon for this kit because there will be some minor modifications going alone with reposition of the vents. Hope you guys will like it.
This kit takes time to make, but it will be one hella kit :D
Unlike other companies, I will be focus on Scion for now.
We have other projects going like Scion, Scion and Scion :D
XBBOY 07-20-2004, 10:52 PM Thanks Tim for the update....can't wait for the kit man.
J_A_Trevino 08-06-2004, 04:36 AM any updates on the kit? just curious
LavaScionSouthernArizona 08-08-2004, 08:59 PM looking forward to seeing this...I am in the market for a new kit
XBBOY 08-08-2004, 09:18 PM Hi guys...just to update you all on the kit, Tim has had a little bit of a problem with the manufaturers from over seas...he is still working on it and will be updateing you all soon, I'll give him a call so he can post the results of his meetings. Thanks
TRF_USA 08-09-2004, 05:10 PM Hi Guys
Like Nilo said, I am having some problem with the manufacture oversea…
There is misunderstanding on the pricing and quantity I have to bring in
After long meeting with the manufacturer, I have come to decided that I have to give up this kit unless you guys are willing to pay almost $1000 for the kit (Which I think its ridiculous even the kit is beyond good)
However, there is also good new for you guys :D
I didn’t give up the kit for xB
There will be another TRF kit available in about 2 weeks
Sorry I cannot release any picture at this time, but when I post the picture it is going to be the picture of the real product on an xB
Price on the kit will remain the same. Instead of using polyurethane for the kit, I will be using the Pliable Fiber Reinforced Plastic (PFRP) for the kit. PFRP is a flexible fiberglass part that is stronger and more flexible than the regular fiberglass. It is the same type of material that C-West is using in their new lines of bumpers. I will be giving you guys more details once the kit becomes available.
Sorry about the change on the design and the material, but I can guarantee you this new kit will be as good as the one I plan to make. There will be no further changes for the incoming kit. :D
xB_ey 08-09-2004, 09:20 PM tim,
so please set me straight.
the "new" kit you have in the works is not the kit from your original post on this thread...is that right??? and no where in here (forums) can this "new" kit be seen...right??? just wanted some clarification...and perhaps even a glimpse if possible...???
thanks in advance.
squirrel 08-09-2004, 10:45 PM Its in the Force Na'im. Use the Force, Na'im!
C'mon Tim, I know a few peeps lookin' to get body kits. Come to think of it, I need a kit to compliment my TRF grille!
TRF_USA 08-09-2004, 11:35 PM Sorry for the confusion guys
I really feel bad that I have to tell you guys about the new plan on the kit
The kit I posted original in this post is the old plan for the kit, which I will not be able to make it anymore… If you saw this kit somewhere, that means someone steal my picture and create a kit for it.
The new kit will be clean and aggressive still. Like I said, next time when I release the picture for the new kit means the kit is already available for purchase and immediate delivery. (Expecting 2 weeks)
I am sure you guys will still like the new kit I made because its still going to be one of the kind original kit.
Thanks, and sorry again for been not able to deliver the old kit design…
xB_ey 08-10-2004, 01:00 AM tim,
thanks for the clarification. cant wait to see it!
scionstars 08-19-2004, 06:37 PM did this topic die?
XBBOY 08-19-2004, 06:49 PM as Tim said the kit is in the molding and design stage, they had some troubles and mix ups with the group they were dealing with in asia...i believe the kit that is being produced will be made here in the U.S. like the original kit he designed for Red Genie. That means the fit will be way better as well as the materials used to make this product. I've seen the concept of the kit and I'm sure you'll like the design.
Besk_one 08-19-2004, 06:52 PM it didn't die, expect to see the brand new and improved TRF kit debut in a week or two :)
- Brian
TRF_USA 08-19-2004, 11:34 PM I think I need to bump this post once a day so you guys know it is not dead
The kit is in its modeling process. The builder and myself are also working on other Scion parts so the process gets a little slower. Everything will be smooth out over the weekend and expecting the mold to be started end of the next week. I will probably bring out the front lip a week before the rest of the kit for you guys to see what product you will be getting.
:D
squirrel 08-23-2004, 04:12 AM Tim, nice meeting you friday night. I can't wait for the next two weeks!
XBBOY 09-03-2004, 06:37 PM Great news guys and gals,
I was in a meeting with Tim and Nish last night along with Alex(bluebox) and the new TRF kit is done with the fitting and design stage. I must say the kit looks awesome. Tim is now getting the mold done. Expect the first kits to be out in about 2 weeks. We will try to get some pics of it on a car out for you guys asap, maybe as soon as next week with the prototype. I think you will all be happy with the finished product. Peace :)
Besk_one 09-03-2004, 06:52 PM yay! can't wait to see the first car with that kit ;)
- Brian
cmanworkz 09-03-2004, 10:09 PM Tim, im sporting the red genie and TRF stickers on my car now :D
Curious_George_238 09-04-2004, 03:33 AM My Hot Lava goes in the body shop in early November. I want a body kit to mold onto it by then. I must have this kit, sight unseen I know it will be hot.
J_A_Trevino 09-04-2004, 07:26 AM thanks for the info, please keep us updated.
TRF_USA 09-05-2004, 07:15 AM Hi guys
Update on the kit here:
All the modeling for this kit is complete
It will look ALOT different then the one in the picture I was showing as I mentioned before. The new TRF kit will still look very clean but aggressive.
There are few people on the forum have seen the prototype in person and in love of the kit the minute they saw it :D
Kit is been prepped and going into mold making process next Tuesday
It will take about 7 to 10 day for the mold to be complete and kit will be available about 3 days after.
I will start a new post once the kit is done! :D
J_A_Trevino 09-05-2004, 07:35 AM thanks for the update trf :D your kit wouldnt be coming out in carbon fiber would it? just curious. thanks laterz
squirrel 09-05-2004, 04:56 PM I will start a new post once the kit is done! :D
Tim, let me know so I can come down and pick at least one up.
TRF_USA 09-06-2004, 02:37 AM Sorry, no plan for C.F. Kit
However, Nish Design will be making alot of C.F. Accesories for this new kit only
So if you want to add C.F. accent to your car there will be parts availible just for people who purchased this kit.
:D
2tone_xB 09-06-2004, 03:09 PM Ah, no CF. :( But good luck, cant wait to see the finished product.
