Default Which brand of synthetic oil do you prefer?

Just wondering to you guys, what is the best synthetic oil out there to use on your Scions? Remember to bring in factors such as getting more out of your horsepowers, cleaning addictives, performance, etc...

It is hard to go wrong with Mobil 1. It is readily available everywhere and has a long track record.

I use Castrol Syntec, myself, for a number of reasons.

Platinum, Pennzoil's new full synthetic.
http://www.pennzoilplatinum.com/
I started my xB on it last month because it was so cheap on a promotion - one case of oil per month, for July and August. I got a case for each month. Regular price is $6 a quart, Pep Boys had a store coupon that reduced that to $4, and Pennzoil had a mail-in rebate coupon that reduced it to $2.
I don't know if I will stay with Platinum at full price - might change to Mobil 1 since it is cheaper and I change oil so often (5K or less).

Aside from quoting manufacturers' literature, I doubt that we can establish which is best. More likely we have favorites, based on things like local availability, price, good experience, etc.

Um, Mobil1 EXTENDED oils ARE blends!

The ONLY problem with blends is that it's hard to know HOW MUCH synthetic/dino you get in the blend.
It may be 99% dino and 1% synth.

Mobil1 has outstanding (boringly so) UOA's in Toyotas - which of course, our Scions are.

M1 and the OEM "YZZF1" filters will make your tC a happy one

EXACTLY right.
Forget that mobil 1 extended crap. You never want to leave ANY oil in past 5K anyhow.
Also get the Mobil 1 in after you reach the 1K mark.

I've been using the TRD oil filter with Quaker State Q Advanced Engine Full Synthetic for my past two oil changes. I have enough for one more change before trying another brand out.

Get the 10-pak of YZZF1 filters from trdsparks.com
Any full-synth will work well, but numerous UOA's have shown Toyota engines love M1.
It's easy to find, and while not cheap, have a proven track-record.

Default best oil

best oil is Amsoil....extended drain up to 25K miles and unline Mobil one it GUARANTEES the oil...Mobil one advertises it does also but if you readthe fine print on the bottle it says it still recommends dealer drain and wont guarantee it... I put it in my 01 focus and 00 cirrus, works great and looks great coming out even after recommended.

I've been wondering. the YZZF1 filters are pretty popular, but for some reason, I prefere to use the TRD oil filters for my tC. Now, wouldn't the TRD filter provide better flow for hard driving than the OEM YZZF1 filters?

No evidence that they do.
Cut-open samples really show nothing spectacular for the extra money.
Flow on the YZZF1 is fine.
