'06 XB, K&N short intake issue...
I searched and didn't find anything relavent, sorry if the info is already there but...
I installed a Typhoon intake on my XB and after about 3 days the check engine light comes on. I called Scion and they seemed to think it was a vacuum leak issue... Fearing that it might void my warranty, I put the stock air box back on and after about a day the light went back off...
So I reinstalled the Typhoon and being extra careful that I did every little step exactly to the instructions. Again after a couple of days the check engine light is back on. As far as I can tell without dyno's and whatnot it seems to run just the same, maybe slightly more powerful.
I've installed intakes on a couple of different cars and don't really consider it to be something difficult and I'm positive I did it right. (Atleast I've never had any problems on any of the others I have installed)
So if you have any suggestions, please let me know...
Thanks in advance for your time/help

This might help. There's a thread on resetting the ecu (might be in the tech section too), this might take care of both problems (resetting the ecu seemed to open up some power after I put in the intake and may take care of the CEL). If this doesn't work, then try and get the code the CEL is throwing.

Chances are it started running lean with the new intake. That's the code it will throw.
Did you clean the MAF sensor? Did you make sure to clean the inside of the new intake, as per the install instruction?
When I installed my Typhoon it did the same thing, I fixed it buy re-setting the ecu the next morning when it( both air temp and engine) were cooler. Haven't had the problem since.
Of course mine is an '04

This is the second time ive heard k&n on an 06... it seems odd to me that their are people who have problems and relate it to the 06 but dont address the intake... here is the other thread

I just had to reset the EFI chip, not sure that is an engineering issue, or just the EFI chip adjusting to more air flow...
Either way its not that hard to fix, in fact I'm quite relieved it was that simple...
