Default WRX OR TC

I'm a shop foreman for a volkswagen dealer and we have a sister store "scion"/ "toyota"...
I have driven 2 tc's and have been in awe of the whole car- There is a huge difference when comparing the scion to a subie.
My younger brother has an 02 wrx with minor engine mod's.Up-pipe to turbo, downpipe, header, and hks hi power mandrel bent 3'' exhaust. The absolute pure power the motor makes in uncomparable. And keep in mind the subie is also all wheel drive.
If you wanna cruise with enough power on reserve to not get spanked by a honda on the freeway i would recommend the T.C..
If you wanna pass a vette through the canyons, and completely embarrass a done up honda
Get the W.R.X....
Two completely comparisons performance wise-
But i have yet to drive or see a T.C. with mod's done yet-
I have remained empartial towards bolth cars because they have a different intent of how they are capable to be driven.
Flat out performance- W.R.X.
Great looks- very respectful performance- T.C.

Do you want to drive a car or an engine? IMO, the WRX is FUGLY as sin. Nobody would be giving them a second look if it weren't for the powerplant. The tC's more of a total package. What you give up in power you more than make up for with style...

Exactly. It really all depends what your looking for. I'm personally not fond of the WRX either, cause I see one every two blocks. They are nice cars with some power, but if thats what your going for get the STi. But IMO they're everywhere and over popularized. Go with something new and fresh *cough* tc *cough* unless you like to blend in with the crowd.

yeah, im going with the tc..i saw one yesterday at the dealership, but didnt look at really because all i had on my mind was the wrx...but i went to the dealership today(they were closed but still looked at the tc)..and i thought the tc was very nice..and why get a used car when i can get one brand new...the dealership forgot to lock the tc, so my dad and I were able to sit in it. There was a ton of room, and very nice. We are going back to the dealership tomorrow to test drive when, then hopefully order one

I think im going to either order a flint mica or indigo ink pearl.. i was looking at either getting a black or silver color, but all the ones ive seen so far are those colors

Ohhh, when did they make the change to the A/T option? I take it with the new refreshing non-bug eyed WRX. I was thinking of the original WRX when it was introduced and priced $10K OVER MSRP.

Actually they have had an automatic since the intro in 2001.

You're probably better off asking this on a forum that's not quite so biased. Personally I have never even checked out the WRX, since I figured it was out of my price range. Ultimately, just do as much research as you can and go with what you 'feel' is best. For looks, performance, or whatever, just take you time and don't jump into any quick decisions about it.

well said. Get what YOU want, after looking at both... Don't give a rats behind about what everybody else thinks.

are you serious??

wrx hands down.

its all wheel drive, and faster. So you are going to have a better handling car out the box, and it will be quick as hell. The only thing the tc has going for it in this comparison is good ol toyota reliability, but thats where it stops. Styling is subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so don't go on what everyone else thinks looks better, thats your decision. Also, as far as tuning, the wrx gets that nod also. Throw $500 (say..a chip, or hell, even an exhaust system) into a wrx vs. throwing $500 into a tc and you will see bigger gains in the wrx because you are dealing with a turbocharged engine vs. a naturally aspirated one.

If you're going to get an auto, don't get the WRX. 4-speed auto + turbo lag = NO FUN.

I was debating a used manual WRX for a little while.. but the transmission problems scared me away. Who knew what idiotic teenager had beat on that poor tranny before I ever even saw the car...
