alpine amps
Like pillage, I have the Alpine v12 (05 version) and I've had it for a year and a half without any problems. Alpine has a new line of amps for 06, the PDX. I'm liking the new look and the featured ability to stack atop one another for multi-amp setup, but they cost a pretty penny (but then there is ebay). If you'd ask if I'd purchase another Alpine amp, the answer is yes.
I prefer Elemental Design... Their price/product ratio is hard to beat!!
1200watt amp, $315 shipped... 3 year warranty and AWESOME customer service!! http://www.edesignaudio.com/groupbuy.php

No, the reason im asking is because I left it up to this guy thats doing my system to choose one and he mentioned he'd be using that one. So hopefully it combines well with the new w3. I was just making sure it wasnt garbage before I went ahead with his suggestion.
i LOVE my alpine speakers over JL audio... but their V-12 amps have given me headaches! i have gone through 2 4ch V-12 amps (1 for the small fan not cooling the amp, 1 because the current protection circuit kept turning on). I pulled out my wiring twice and replace my fronts just because I had so many problems. JL audio subs (W7) crushes my type r (and i think even type x) subwoofers.

I have installed a lot of alpine amps and we have never had problems like that.

Remember to look to the input voltage that the manufacturers use to get their power ratings. Most of the industry uses a 14.4V input to get power ratings which is great for marketing. The problem is your car's charging system does not generate 14.4V (especially under load). Basically, 30% of the power you paid for becomes vaporware once it's installed into your car.
There are still some honest manufacturers out there that use a much more realistic 12.5V input to derive their power specs. One such manufacturer has been mentioned many times in this thread.
