Default So my engine just flooded and died???

I recently instaled my supercharger for my 06 TC. I apparently have the TRD injectors from what SimplyScion tells me. I have the light blue with the larger diameter fuel inlet. Also, I ordered my kit used so I have no MAP sensor to reprgram my ECU. So I was driving tonight and I decided to push it in second gear. Well boost hit 9 PSI on my gauge (I have the ZPI upgrade pulley) and when I pushed in my clutch to slow down the thing died. The car had a very hard time starting, felt there it was flooded? Took about 3 minutes of cranking to finally take care of it and start it. Idled like garbage for a few minuted then returned to normal. I have a forge 007 BPV, hacked CAI, TRD axle back exhaust, and a lightened crank pulley. ANyone got any insight as to why she died and had trouble starting up again? I have an APEXi SAFC2 on order and should be here next week

If you didn't do the reflash, you're flirting with engine death. Especially with additional boost.

how is it running to much fuel tho if it hasnt been reflashed? wouldnt that lean it out

The SAFC-II won't help you much either... in closed loop it's essentially not useful at all.

When you drive the car with the standard boost of 7 lbs it will try to pull back the timing when it senses knock. Which of course will be constantly. Also you don't have the correct map to control the new injectors so they will be spraying more fuel than what they should out of boost. Adding the extra boost is just a nightmare waiting to happen. Good luck with your rebuild because chances are good you already have engine damage.

Ok first - get your car reflashed - all of the horror stories we have heard .... go do it. If you cant get the piece for the reflash ....go and order the emange blue (if the ultimate is in your budget ...get that one) and have someone tune it. I would not drive your car till you get that done. I am 100% sure of that answer. There is a group buy where you can get the emange blue w/ harness for less then $600 total. go here:

There are guys with the normal boost that had problems w/o the trd flash. You have brought this to another level and put a smaller pulley on. please man - take my advice and get what needs to get done done. dont drive your car till you do so.

sounds like you have a pipe off...Check your coupler connections at the TB and the compressor outlet. You will also want to check the BPV to insure that is has not slide out due to a loose clamp.

Do not just visual check these actually tug on them a bit. The S/C silicon piping fit very tight so there can be an illusion that it is right yet still creating a boost leak.

I have been talking to this kid for over a month about the reflash. I offer the reflash as well. He has chosen not to do the reflash despite the options he has been given by myself and obviously others (ZPI). If you choose not to take the necessary steps to prevent issues then when damage happens you only have yourself to blame.

listen to everyone...people have had problems w/o reflash on the stock boost alone and u have the 9lb pulley. think of it this way, ~$75-90 for the reflash vs. the cost of fixing your engine when it goes (hundreds to possibly thousands).

The TRD reflash is an awesome safety net to have. I've thrown almost everything you can at it all at once and it still kept the car safe- 550cc injectors, 12-14 psi of boost, open air bov, intercooler, intake you name it it's handled it safely (not always very drivable) but very safely.

just do a search of either his username or the topic reflash. There are a few posts. I have 5 pm's from him on this topic as well. He sends me one almost every week saying he will be sending me his ecm and I should expect it in the mail.

thanks for all the kind criticism. turns out i did not do any engine damage at all, the computer ran it rich all the way to redline, so rich that it plugged my center pipes cat which is why the car died.i unbolted my s-pipe from the car and it runs perfect.
