I don't quite understand...
...but what is the fascination with all this carbon fiber crap anyways?
I don't get it with all the CF hoods, door handles, mufflers, hatches and all the other CF schitt some of you "MUST" have cause it's CF, what is it about CF that you all like? Our cars aren't going any faster and it's bad enough that they aren't aerodynamic to begin with...blah blah blah, I know it's "lighter" but that's not it. Does it make you feel important or "special" cause you have all of this hideous stuff on your car?
Explain it to me...WHY???

Hang in there....trends come and go. Carbon fiber is a lightweight replacement for metal. Over the years it has morphed into a "mod statement". Even faux carbon fiber has found a niche. Consider that everyone is in a different place when it comes to modifying their car and what "looks good" to them may not be your cup of tea. You don't have to understand it, you're not driving it.
As an example, I cannot imagine a scenario where chrome looks good on a tC. I also understand that is just my perspective. To some, chrome wheels are the shizznit. and the more bling the better.
To each their own bro. Who cares?

I think it's all more of a mentality for the xB.
I want it because it looks good on white and its a cheapalternative to painting.
I personaly couldnt see it on anyhting other than white, yellow, or silver.

Carbon fiber hoods can be kind of ok, but carbon fiber lip kits and fenders or all of the above combined look like poop. It's like do you want a half unpainted car to show off your CF parts? Doesn't make it look cool. It makes it look like you're too cheap to paint your ride.
I don't think that any of these derogatory comments are unfair. How can you create a culture within a culture? How can you criticize someone’s idea of "cool" when you are being criticized by others that think you don't have a "cool" car? We should be praising Scion owners for their creativity and originality weather we agree with it or not. I mean, isn't that what we are all trying to achieve, to step out of the mainstream and be original?
I just like the way it looks when the light hits it. I wasn't a big fan of CF before, but i have a CF wing and hatch handle cover. I want to get the CF engine cover but i have other stuff that i'd rather get. first. I think the CF fenders for the box are a over the top, it just looks out of place, I mean just two fenders? I would do the hood, and thats about it. I mean the CF hatch looks cool, but i wouldn't buy it. But the CF headliner...i'd deff rock that.
to each thier own.
I'd never do it on my car, but I think it would look great on a BSP or SM.
I saw a new GTI the other day, a silver color, with cf hood and hatch. tat wuz da sexy.
A friend of mine (frosty355) has an rs2 with two offset racing stripes down the middle of the car, and is planning on a cf hood painted solar yellow except for the racing stripe area... that will look amazing. kinda like 'i can afford cf AND i painted it'
booya.

Yeah, I don't really get it either. I don't think it looks good, so there's no appeal there. It looks like you had an accident and couldn't afford to get the new parts painted yet. I understand the performance aspect of it with CF being so light weight, but that only makes sense if you're actually racing. Those people would have their cars stripped of all extra weight (no radio, no backseat...etc.). But I see CF hoods on a car with 200 lbs of amps and subs in the back!
Oh well, to each his own.
