Default lisense plate cover rattle with subs

i have some subs in my trunk and i have a lisence plate cover and since there is no holes for the bottem part of the lisence plate, the lisence plate cover makes a rattle everytime the subs are bumping,
what should i do, should i drill a hole through the bottem, thanks in advance

go to walmart, get some 1" wide, 3/8" thick self-stick weatherstrip and attach it to the back of the license plate on the bottom. This will push the bottom away from the car just enough to keep it from rattling... simple, easy fix!

Basically same idea as above-3M Double-Sided Adhesive will do the trick also. You can always cut it to size. I just did this on Wed. and now my Hatch is quiet! Didn't cost me a thing because I had the stuff lying around the house.

The weatherstrip is a good idea. I had to put some between the plate and the hatch and also between the plate and the cover. No more rattles! (well from the plate anyways)

i just worked on mine a few minuts ago (hehee) i got some folded newspaper to make a cushion then i just put some gaff tape over it to work like a seal. i did this over a majority of the plate, and even extra padding on the two screws on top. works really well for the license plate doesnt rattle, however the hatch itself rattles like a **** stil.. ahah.. stupid subs :] and my radio door sqeaks... lol

Dynamat License Plate backing.

Simple and most effective.

i had the same item (dynomat) and it helped a lil but not enough! if you have alot of bass then it wont help best bet is going with thick double side tape but eventually it would come off later in the future.

the dynomat thing didn't work for me either i already had the back of my plate covered from my old car but the frame was the source of the rattle must say the weather stripping did the trick i recommend doing both

yeah, the dynamat is just to deaden resonances. It's a mass loading dampener. The license plate doesn't just resonate, it vibrates which causes more of a rapid tapping against the body of the car instead of a slight buzzing like the interior panels might. the weather strip will absorb the vibrations and keep it away from the car body.

Ditto on the weather stripping, did it about a year ago and it is still sticking strong and no rattles, don't use use dynamat , it will just deaden the noise that is already there, so it'll sound like a thud, instead of a tinging sound, i've tried both. Def go with the weather stripping!

go to home depot. it's in the windows/doors section. or just ask them where "weather stripping is. they're in rolls in a bag.
