Hey everyone,

Hopefully someone out there can help me out here:
Yesterday someone vandalised my car and stole the glass off my driver's side view mirror.

i've called various parts departments but they are asking for at least $200 for the whole assembly. They all claim that the mirror glass cannot be bought seperately from the housing.

I know the glass is pretty easy to remove, and I guess that's why someone stole it, but it seems ridiculous that I have to purchase the whole housing just to replace the glass.

This is probably why someone who broke his glass figured it would just be easier to steal the piece rather than paying for the whole housing.

If anyone has any ideas about what I can do, or any cheaper alternatives please let me know.

Thanks

the thing is that its so easy to steal... i don't want to shell out ~$200 just to get it jacked again...

somehow find the dimensions of the glass and either have some cut or find a perfect match off another car

Maybe this is too simple, but have you tried a glass dealer? I would think they could replace glass for a fraction of what you were quoted.

There's also ringing up your local junk yards to see if they've got what you're looking for.

yea same with the rear wiper. if the blade housing breaks u got to purchase the whole arm to replace it at around 70$

yeah I tried the glass dealer, I would still need a mounting plate to put the mirror in, they don't supply it. I'm trying the junk yard next... I just have to figure out where to go
