just a thought. but you might want to establish your team rules, criteria, mission statement, etc before soliciting people for money. discuss what the registration dues go towards.

then every so often you have a meet and greet with new people. gives them a chance to meet members, chat, grab a bite or a beer, you know..make sure everyone isn't a jerk, or smell like bad BO. maybe you have requirements like, you want people to be modified in some fashion, maybe not. maybe they'll think you guys are too young, or too old.
whatever, if you each pass the sniff test, they join and pay up or whatever..

people usually have a difficult time deciding to join something if they don't know the people involved and especially if they have to pay prior to signup. or worse, you get every ole shmo saying 'yeah sign me up,'

right now its kind of like asking people to join a church without telling them what religion you are and if the congregation is like minded.

i'd be interested in a mini-meet to figure this stuff out first. i just don't know about being blood brothers yet...and hey, i'm in westchester so i don't know if i qualify anyway.

jetlounge, you bring up very, very important points. You would be an asset to the team. I am looking for serious people like you who have an idea of how to run this. Would you like to be incharge of that area of the team? you know the compliance, rules and regulations?

I love your idea of getting together to meet all possible members and getting to know eachother. I want to find out what everyone want to get out of this and what they can bring to this team.

hey bryan, i think what migueal is trying to do, correct me if I am wrong, is try to establish a club that is different than the huge mix of card at nathans or starbuck. He wants to establish a new local car club. I think it is a good idea. But it is still to early to tell. I'm interested though.

its not atypical for some clubs to have dues. this weeds out people who aren't serious, and may also go into a fund for future events, trips, things like that.

Guys, I cant tell you how excited I am about all your comments and ideas. These are the makings of a GREAT car club. I want this to be different. What's your idea of a GREAT car club?...take that and lets implement it. whats going to make us big is our unity, seriousness and having a fund.

well u guys already know im down to meet up anywhere as long as im not working.

Miguel and I were chatting briefly about a few things.

I think this thursday car meet is lacking too much.

We need something new. Some Spice. WHen i had my type S we had a bunch of us Honda/Acura guys go for drives up through bear mountain flexing our suspension the entire way up. Then we'd shoot over and have a few drinks somewhere. We even went paintballing a couple of times.

Personally everyone there on thursday is cool, but its getting kinda Blaahh. Im currently attempting to Photoshop a new decal or something for this team. But its kinda lacking becuase i dont even have a name.

Funds would most definetly go for decals, car wash events, shirts, etc. this wouldnt be a montly fee or anything...just a one time bid to get you some stuff i think a re-occuring payment might lead to some issue's.

3 layer decals arent cheap even though i do have a great sticker guy.

Yo Rob, I am impressed with you. I am happy to move towards your direction. Obviously, in order to achieve and get all we want, the fund must be a monthly or bi-weekly thing. Which ever we all agree on.

I spoke to Frank today and he mentioned that he is in a team already, something about Scion NRG. I'm not looking to take away from other car clubs or anything. More like something new and different, something BIG.

I dont want to get together in a parking lot and just hangout, that's a waste of time and money. I want to get together and discuss events, modifications, technical issues and anyother productive subjects. Even like you said, go to BearMountain, Six flaggs, Paintball fights, etc.

One person alone can not afford all these things but as a group, a team we can do many things.

We can even do a monthly collection towards m,odification for our cars. For 1 person $3000 for turbo kit is alot, but between 10, 15, 25, 30 people it's nothing.

If we hookup one vehicle at a time and win events with that one car, that's more money and reputation built for the next car.

The point is, and this might sound corny: As a team we can do much more than individually.

Guys, I have a lot of ideas and im sure you too. Lets do something with this.

The club just hit 1100 members. There are about 700 active members on the team. Thge other ones just come on the site to read and make posts. Rob, i met you last week at starbucks. I drive a flint mica and my plate reads envy NRG. It's like the 4th plate i've had this year. I go through em like nothin. Like "Frank" said before, we live about 5 minutes from coop city. This is the preliminary stage. There is no formation of a team yet. We are not asking for any subscription fee or dues at this time.
At this time we are looking to see how many people are actually interested in helping to start getting this team off the ground.
We are planning to have several local meets before we really make the team OFFICIAL. I am trying to organize a meet tonight at Bay Plaza movie theatres at 9pm tonight and hopefully we'll have many people at our larger meet tomorrow in scarsdale, read the previous posts about location address and time.

We do not have an operating website yet.
Once again, we are only in the preliminary stages of setting up a team. This is just to spark interest for the future. I'm not in charge either. Miguel is the one who is trying to put this together, but I am taking initiative to try and help out.
There is a large number of people from the Bronx, New Rochelle, and as far up as white Plains that are interested in a tighter local group. I myself am currently affiliated with Team ScioNRG. Everyone here may or may not be a part of another group, but we're trying to do something local that will not be so, shall we say, commercial. DJTC, regarding you idea from an earlier post: I agree with you regarding the whole Scion car Club name. It should be away from Scion. I contacted Scion and asked about being Sponsored and the posibility is there but right now we are nobody. But they said they will if we do it the right way. There are also motor shops that can sponsor us like Strauss, Pep Boys, etc.

honestly i still don't get it. i don't know what $11k/yr is going to get you.
i believe the mods i want, i should be able to afford on my own. if i can't, i don't expect anyone else to pick up the tab.

like i said ealier, you need to have a mission for a team. a fund means nothing if you don't explain what you want to do with the money. and what...10 guys are going to vote for 2 of them to get a turbo upgrade each year? that gets ugly real quick. if you want to use it to sponsor events, you do it on an event by event basis...and the outside registrations help pay for the event.

other teams do have dues, but not this $100/month and not to pay for each others' upgrades. take a look at the following:

they are hosting a big show in the next couple of weeks. i don't know them from adam, but they do have some established reason for being. they also have established rules to join, not just the monthly economic means.

my two cents...a team of people gets you possibly a small discount if you go in on the same types of purchases, rims, exhaust, paint..call them mini group-buys. or a deal at the local tuning shop for a dyno day and a special on installs. roll down to a few shows together for the chance to hang out and have fun, not necessarily win a trophy. and maybe, maybe you could get a dealership to sponsor you after you have proven some dedication..but no way scion corp. would touch you with a 10 foot pole. scionrg has 1000 members, have members at every show and they will never be 'official.'

you have lofty goals, but imho need more planning. that kind of scratch each year is not a club or team...that is a not-for-profit company..and must be run like one.

I still want to be in a car club that's more local and with people I know. If you are like my best friend Moses who is a steam fitter for a huge contracting company and gets $33 an hour then you need about 3 licenses and pay $45 each.

My point is that in order to get the big money you have to get licensed, Like truck drivers, Doctors, lawyers and financial analysts (ME).

In order to start your business with Primerica you would need to invest $600 to $700. But because we represent CitiGroup and all it's companies we Invest $199 Primerica invests $500 on our behalf.

There are 2 ways to earn money in Primerica:
1- Submit your IBA application and your $199 licensing fee
I'll tell you what that includes in a second.

Then you take your license and go out there helping families with Life Insurance, Home loans and Mortgages. Securities License for Investments is additional. You can earn an average of $2000.00 helping 2 families a week with these services. That's good money, part time money.

The other way of earning money in Primerica is by building a team.

You join our company and you bring in 3 people, Primerica will raise your commision from 25% (you getting lic and working alone) to 35% commission for creating distribution. Because you have 3 additional people making the company $$$$, the company increases your commission. But that is not all. The company pays you the difference of what you would have made your self on the appointment when each of your associates goes out and closes a sale. that's called overides. You get paid for your work and your associates work.

because i brought the 3 of you to the business the company will pay me 35% and each of you will get 25% (unless you bring 3 people of your own which in that case you too get 35% but then I get 50% and it goes on).

b_wet sells a life insurance policy which brings in $1000 in premium a year from the customer, that's about $84 a month (about a $350,000.00 life insurance coverage depending on age).
then Presidente does the same $1000.00 and jorge also does $1000.00

each of you make a 25% commission which pays you $250.00 each. I do my appointment and I get 35% commission (remember, because I brought you three) then I make $350.00 on the same policy you guys did.

b_wet: $250.00
Presidente: $250.00
jorge: $250.00
Miguel: $350.00

the company will pay me for the work you guys did also. the company will pay me the difference of what I would have made If I did your appointments. $350.00 - $250.00 = $100.00 I will get an overide check from the company for $300.00 for the work you guys did.

b_wet: $250.00 - $350.00 = $100 for me
Presidente: $250.00 - $350.00 = $100 for me
jorge: $250.00 - $350.00 = $100 for me

So I get a total of $650.00 at the end of that day.

Look, no one want to invest $199 to start this business but if you had a choice to start your own business like thios one or any other for that matter how much would you need? realistically...close to $25,000.00

This business is not for everyone and I respect everyones opinion, but look at your life.....if it's good than great for you, but if not than.....you cant pass up this opportunity. Besides I will be training you for the fisrt 2-3 months and you get paid. Come down and let me show you.

miguel we got u......i think we went to the same meeting where they explained the same exact thing......my thing is dat when i went i was about 21 years old and broke i was going to skool but had not finished...not even close and i needed money......now going into primerica wit that mind frame i was not thinkin of a career i juss needed a job....so when i was told that i had to put out 300 dollars before i can earn anything back i was extremely disappointed and felt like i was being ripped off.....now im 24 have a great career which i wouldnt trade for anything....which i had to invest about 700 dollars in liscencing fees and test....but is a job that someone straight from high school can do....i had to go to college and graduate.....i dont mean to knock primerica but it seems like if u have good social skills and 300 dollars to cough out then ur in business......u can be 17 or 34 it doesnt matter....i dont even think they asked me if i even had a high school diploma.....thats why i felt it was a ripp off.....from experience ive learned that the hardest things to earn are the most rewarding....my career was ghard and long to earn but it sure was worth it......as for u it seems like u made it in primerica dats very good and i congratulate u on it......but juss cuz u made it doesnt mean dat someone else is....i can see in the way u sell primerica why u would be makin good money....u seem to be a great sales person

Presidente, you have great work ethic and I admire that. But I still feel like you are selling your time too cheap. And not only you but all the others. Havent you guys ever wanted to start your own business? Well in Primerica you are in business for your self but not by your self.

Just yesterday I recruited my fourth partner into the business. The rest of this month is going to be hectic for me. Training them and going out on appointments and making double what I made last month. Im looking at $4000.00 to $5000.00 With that kind of money I can finish my widebody kit and put a system like Papispico.

Bottom line guys....if nothing has changed since the last past 5 years then you have to change. Besides change is good, exciting and I has big rewards.
