Not really...and is indictivie of a list of words, two can be considered a list, and hence the use of &.

Actually the reasoning for the higher price is based on the actual out of door price. For example if you purchase a $14,995 car new from the lot, they usually stick in some extras such as transportation fee, and advertising fee. There is the notorious documentation fee which is total BS. After all of that you pay for registration and tax. By the time you are done you are paying close to $16,750. So the Blue Book valuation is basing off the actual out the door price.

However the car value is based on the actual buyer (what the buyer is willing to pay is how much your car is worth).

Oh yeah, if you plan on selling your car, do not go to the dealer. This is where they will .... tell you to bend over.

On average the dealer makes 10% on a new car. When selling a used car they make close to 35-40% margin.

I looked up on Edmunds, they show for an 06 Automatic Trans with 1900 miles:

Trade in $15,155
Private Party Sale $16,412
Dealer Retail $17,478

Seems more accurate to me.

Some loan institutions like my bank for example uses www.nada.com to see what a car is worth.

Kelly blue book is alright. Private party will always be more and generally, I think that's the slower way, but the better way to sell a car. Like stated, a dealer will straight up bend you over.
