baking, though possible, is risky as the plastic can be easily warped.

dremeling open the light is much more safer.

you won't be able to bake it, it's not a glue type adhesive like the headlight assys, you have to dremel it b/c it is a adhesive that aactually melts the grey and clear plastics so they "weld" together. you'll just have to glue them back together

baking it would also burnout the LEDs inside. dremel it open and then seal it with clear silicone sealant.

uh...i think the "dremel" is a good idea, we can use it to cut it by 1/2 then seal it back together. Anyway, i don't have the dremel thing ...i need to buy one though.

ok, yes it can be baked, i did it.. was tricky, but can be done. got it on my 3rd try.. so dont say it wont work.. its just easier to dremel it.]

and baking it wont hurt the led's.. at least enough for you to see the results in your lifetime..

plus, if your taking apart your brake light, it would be assumed that new/more led's would be going in.

and silicone is the only reattachment that should be used..

thank you, im here till 9

Sorry for the late reply...

I use a dremel to open the case. Use the thinnest cutting wheel you can find.

As far as putting it back together, I plastic weld it together. Make sure you don't have any air bubbles. You can put a thin layer of silicone around to be extra sure there are no leaks.

When you put it back on the car, use some double sided tape, since you had to take off that factory seal.

That's it!

I don't have any pictures of me putting it back together, but I have several pics of it apart, I made a DIY on how to take it off the car...

I have a 3 customers coming today, tomorrow, and Saturday. I think 2 of them are getting the 3rd brake light mod. I'll take some pics for you and show you how to take it apart, and put it back together. Give me a few days though (maybe until Sunday).

You may want to make sure that all those lights wired in parallel like that won't draw too much current and overload the board. I'm not really sure if that's an actual problem, so everyone feel free to correct me here.

Everything looks good, but I would fully connect the LED's. I know they are connected inside the LED, but it's still better to have a good connection.

Other than that, it looks great!

P.S. get some JB weld, that's what I use, and it works great.

Also, use some 3M double sided foam tape when you put the lens back on the car.

I shouldn't have to say this, but make sure it works before you seal the lens!

umm.... wiring it up that way... uhh...

you'll have 6 leds wired in parallel.. followed by another 2 that's parallel in series with that.... and then another 6 in parallel that's in series with that.....

.... hmm... something tells me current's gonna have a fun time with that...

but hey... as long as it works right?
