Default How's your Toaster so far??

I bought my 06, Mica Toaster last April from Family Scion, San Juan Capistrano and took him for his first Oil change (4700 mls) last Friday...

So far, my liddle Toaster has been absolutely fantastic, zero problems. The 5000 service/Oil change took only 55 mins, including the Wash....

I've been lazy upgrade wise, he only has Leather, the ipod upgrade and rear Cargo Net, I'm gonna throw some nice 18 inchers on him when I get time, but he's had a few coats of a good quality Wax, which makes the paint look sooooo deep, so he looks like a million bucks...

Oh, he's been de-badged too...

BTW, any suggestions on wheel color? Hyper silver? Black? Silver?? What looks tasty on a Mica??

Cheers then!!

Default ......SO FAR, 44K, SO GOOD/GREAT!!!...

I am not up to wheels yet...... I am also color blind so I will let others suggest wheel colors.
But something tells me that you do not yet have a CABIN AIR FILTER installed in the CABIN AIR FILTER TRAY that is behind your glove box. See TECH thread called 'Fabricate your own CABIN AIR FILTER'. See photos of how to pop off the glove box to access tray.
Scion sells it for $22. Any parts store will sell it for $12. RAV4 uses the same filter. Change it every 15 or 20K. Why? So dust does not accumulate on your dash, and the pollen will be filtered out.

I *heart* xBHAWK's cabin air filter lectures.

Check out my profile. I have 17's, black with polished lip. Its an old pic. I really need to get something more up to date. I was looking at getting a gun metal color, but I think the black goes well with SM.

I have had my toaster for about two months/6000+ miles. No problems - love it! I have all ready been cross country with it and use it for my looong drive back and forth from work everyday. It is a fun, comfortable car to hang out in.

My only mods so far; Alpine touch screen head unit and Focal speakers - I need to put the amp in! Almost forgot about the cruise control.

In the works, amp install, a sub, sound deadening, tires/wheels and a mild drop.

Complaints; rattles in both A pillars, cheap carpet, no oil pressure or coolant temp gauge, no factory cruise and I miss not having an outside temp gauge.

My toaster sucks, it always burns on one side.....I guess it's time to spend $30 for a new one.

Bought mine in May. Almost 6K miles now. Not happy with A/C being only slightly cool, had rattle/squeek in A-pillar that disappeared after installing strut tie bar. Other than that it has been great. Glad i've got it.

It has been great so far, the comments have been

"Awesome brick!" - He was being "sarcastic" Some guy at a frat house in Radford as we were rolling in at like 11:30 on Friday night. Nothing like people pouring out of these parties all trashed walking down the street and all, it was ridiculous.

"Why would you buy a car like that?" - someone's frat brother

"I hate Scions!" - (it's sai-on, not sky-on) - some drunk guy walking out of a 7-Eleven at two in the morning

the best was from my future sister in-law:
"This is most definately my new favorite road trip vehicle." She was using the back seats as a bed the whole trip.

I bought my '06 BOP xB 3 weeks ago and have been very satisfied. I love my box. I have heard quite a few snide remarks being uttered from coworkers while they stood in the company of others, but I still find it ammusing that these comedians come back to take another look when their companions have left. Even though some make comments, many are curious and most of those are very pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoy the box.
I know I have.

I have an 05 Camo xB with just over 60K on it. I am still completely infatuated with this car. The only thing I have had to do is change my front brake pads (did that 2 weeks ago) and new belts. They were heavily glazed and started to really squeak a lot. Other then that I have had no problems what so ever. The only exception being the paint. This has been covered a million times over, I know. My front end is completely jacked. My only regret is that I didn't pony up the $$$ to invest in the clear bra. Check out this thread for pix of my front end.

I have had mine for 3 weeks now and love it so far. There are a few minor complaints, such as no intermittant wipers, cruise control. Other then that though, it has been a very good experience so far.

Why did you wait SOOOO long to get your first oil change??? The first oil change should be at 1,000 miles to get the break-in metal shavings and contaminated oil out. Then switch over to Mobil 1 Synthetic oil for maximum engine life.

Default new to the box

I've only had my box 4 days...and I am in love with it. I find it very difficult to get out of it. I just want to cruise around with the xm on...lights on the radio morfing from cool color to cooler color...red lights under the dash and in the cup holders...dang! I am mesmerized...I tell yah. I'm in L-O-V-E!

Hmmmm.....Will I eventually be able to get back to my regularly scheduled life...or is this infatuation a permanent situation?

xB

Lovin the box in the boro!

Toyota specifies which grade of oil should be used for the vehicles it produces. The manufacturer also specifies how often the oil changes should be made, in the case of the xB, they recommend every 5000 miles.

For example, most people believe that a common oil change frequency should be every 3000 miles or every 3 months, whichever comes sooner. This 3000 mile oil change interval has been relentlessly promoted by oil changing companies for decades. It had a scientific basis when engines used non-multi-weight, non-detergent oil. It no longer has any scientific basis, but it is still being promoted by certain entities, most notably the oil change industry in the United States (including car dealerships).

Indeed, studies have shown more wear occurs with fresher (1000-2000 mile) oil. So, if you change your Oil at 1000 miles your Engine will actually wear FASTER, one should leave the original Oil in the Engine for at least 4-5000 miles...
This is attributed to additives re-establishing themselves, TBN converging, and filters becoming more efficient. Most manufacturers recommend oil change intervals of 5,000 miles or more for modern cars.

In other words you have no clue as to what happens during the first 1K miles. It's your car, you prolly don't expect to get 300K out of yours like I do so it's all good.

NO Intermittant wipers???????? those are a standard feature I thought!!!!
go read your manual me thinks

only shortfalls I have found is that it needs a telescope'n wheel to go with the tilt

and have found NO DEFECTS on either of our Toasters!!....still amazes me
