I am on a budget and want an in-dash LCD for the TC. I am looking at motorized screens becasue they are cheaper and I don't mind removing the TC's stereo cover. How is the install on these? I am used to single-din plain old stereo installations.
Which stereo would be better?
Jensen VM-9410
Jensen VM-9311
Both are similarly priced online.
Some people say that Jensen is unreliable but can anybody vouch for that? Thanks for taking the time to look at this! =]

I have the VM9511TS. it is a very cool peice. I dont have a single complaint about it at all. I have used just about every brand out there and the feature set that this unit has is awesome.

Thanks fer the replies, but anybody familiar specifically to the two models i posted? b/c these two are on ebay for around 350$ shipped brand new, from what looks to me a reputable seller.
Are all jensen in-dash units NAV ready?

Okay, mark this day down in the calendar, because you won't hear me talk trash on a brand, but in my professional experience, Jensen is junk.
Every single Jensen product I have worked on (I refuse to sell it) has always (without exception) broke down. From a bad in-dash motor, to short circuiting internal components, to broken buttons, etc...
I have been installing professionally for 7 years, and that's my opinion. Hold on to your money, and save up for a more reliable product. You won't be disappointed.

How is JVC or Valor? Are there differences between the reliability of a motorized monitor or a built in monitor? And also any differences in reliability between older models and newer ones?

JVC makes good products, I haven't experienced problems with them. Valor Idon't have experience with, so I can't say. A motorized monitor still has a chance of breaking. I had one of the first Pioneer in-dash dvd players (AVX-P7300DVD) I got it before anyone else, as I am an authorized dealer for them. This was in 2000. In 2004, the plastic piece inside that is part of the motor bracket broke. It was inexpensive to fix.
Now the technology has advanced further. I always liked flip-out monitors, but I think double-din monitors look very nice.

I agree with him. I was an installer for years and have dealt with tons of their products. The cost is nice but the quality is not even worth the cheap price.

i would agree with them, jensen is good in price, but defenetally lacks in quality. i do installation too, and ive seen tons of problems with jensens. on the indash dvd, problems are the knob falling off, and if also seen the screen stop working. ive had times where a jensen product didnt work straight out of the box. you get what you pay for

I've successfully installed the AVIC-Z1, the AVIC-D2, and the AVH-P6800DVD in the Tc's, and was able to close the door. (oh, I forgot, I also installed the Alpine IVA-W200). All those are double din units and functioned properly. I did have to recess the head unit back, but it still works great.
Too bad you are in the wrong Orange County, otherwise I'd put one in your car! :)
