Default 2.0 factory sub how good does it sound

I have test driven a few 2007 tc's and they get decently loud but there really is not a ton of base.

The dealer about an hour from me has a 2.0 SE release and I was just wondering if anyone on here can comment on the sound quality of the factory 6" that they come with. Can you even tell it is there.

Thanks

I've heard the rs2 sub. It's ok considering the fact that it really takes up no space. Make no mistake though, it's no 12w7. I think it's ok.

I am just wondering if I would have to go out of my way to replace it or if I could live with it.

I am coming from a camaro and a pickup that both have a 12" which nicely matched pieces all around. Guess it is tough to say until I listen to it.

Your best bet might just be to find a local dealer with an rs2 in stock, and listen to it in person. That way you know for sure.

If you're gonna try to compare it to a car/truck that had a 12"... there is no comparison. If you want what a 12" sub gave you, then the 6" woofer(s) in the RS2.0 won't do enough for you.

You could always replace it with this:

I personally like the quality that my sub produces. It's not over heavy on the bass, but it's definitely there. I drive my RS 2.0 and my Dad's Mustang (Mach system). Personally, I'd take my system over the Mustang's Mach any day.

It's good quality. If you're worried about the sound, etc, then it doesn't matter if you buy an RS 2.0 or an 07. But if you get the 07, then just buy an aftermarket sub. It's not the end of the world.

You guys make that box on a CNC mill? I thought CNCs were mostly used for aluminum milling...

You don't have a router jig or something like that setup for it?

I'm very impressed with the RS2 sub. Especially when you consider it is only 6" and has 30 watts. It shakes the mirrors, with out being to obnoxious. And the fact that I lose no trunk space is a huge bonus!!

CNC + wood bit = excellent. I can make pretty shapes.

Render it once, make sure it's what I want, tell it to get cut.

No jigs required.

You can do pretty much any solid on a CNC as long as you have a bit to cut it with and can reliably attach it to the table/have a vacuum table.

When I had my factory radio in my tC I had to adjust the Equalizer setting. Car type "xB" on the "Feel" setting worked best for me. Sounded louder and the bass kicked a tad better. The "tC" setting is too low. Barely audible. When you get your tC, the 'how to' on changing the equalizer setting is in the Audio System Owner's Manual.

rs 2.0 sub is ok.
it isnt that deep. Little hard to adjust right to the song you like. Either its to much bass or not enough. Alot has to do with the stock HU and not bieng able to adjust the sound enough from the stock speakers.

Im running a aftermarket pionner HU with the stock 2.0 sub. The HU makes the interiors sound more crisp. I can get the sub setting just right and I think it sounds a lot better then the crappy stock HU.

If you like alot of bass this inst for you.

This is just a suggestion but if you want to keep the little trunk space we have and still have a little decent bass-be on the safe side forgo the dealer price of the sub and get a basslink 2. Granted since upgrading the rest of my system I'll probably get a stronger bass setup. But up until I upgraded my system it was 250w 10" sub versus the 100 watt bazooka sub in a stealth box.....and it actually cost a lot less getting it through ebay....I think I got it for $200 vs. $449 from the dealer.

I'm not really into fancy enclosures. I'm always about performance over design. And I never liked how the factory sub faces the rear corner. I rather it face toward the driver's seat. I have one 10" Infinity Perfect and I love it. I'm not into the bass overpowering the front speakers so the 10 is more than enough and I could blast it to the point where it overpowers everything, but I like my bass to be support to the speakers.

What he says is exactly right. No matter how you fiddle with the 'car mode', treble, and bass on the stock HU something just doesn't sound right (too much bass, not enough mid). I didn't have the time or skills to figure out how to keep the stock sub with an aftermarket HU so I ditched it and went with my old triple JL 6" microsub box.

The stock sub does not perform miracles, so don't expect it to hit as hard as a 10" or 12" sub in a good box.

real easy to hook up

when your hooking up the new deck harness to the toyota harness. All you have to do is hook up the amp turn on wire (blue) and it works.
sounds better this way.

Gotcha. Guess they have some line level converter somewhere going to the sub harness? I always thought it was a plug coming from the stock HU. I'll give it a try now that my Eclipse HU has more tone controls.
