Default Report On xB Extended Trip

A while back I questioned taking a lengthy trip with my xB Scion---and now that we have done so (wife, small dog and myself), and considering we had it loaded with STUFF----running with 35 pounds pressure in the stock tires, we managed a low of 34 mpg and a high of 38 mpg on the fuel. We covered 4300 miles and it was mostly highway driving at 60- 70 mph. We got our best fuel mileage using ethanol gas (the 10% version in Minnesota) and we were 100% pleased with the economy and the comfort of the xBox. What a car. PJRACER

38 MPG?? I'm impressed (and a little jealous -- I haven't gotten better than 35). I bet it's an automatic . . . right?

I'm glad you're glad you took the box for the long trip. And glad you liked Minnesota (if only for our ethanol ;^) !

Went from Spokane, WA to Las Vegas to LA and back (2800+ miles total) and averaged about 32mpg total....

But I did 80+ with the A/C on most of the time. Considering I had the wife and 6 weeks worth of her luggage for a 10 day trip I was quite happy with the MPG. Got better mileage through Oregon, mainly 2-lane and heavily infested with small towns and police so averaged 60-65 mph and the mileage hit 36+.

As for comfort, it's not a Benz but I had no problems with the drive at 12+ hours per leg. The only problem encountered was a doofus trucker who drifted onto the shoulder in Idaho and sprayed rocks up and put 3 chips in the windshield.

^^^^^^^^^^
I would have to take 6 weeks of my wifes luggage for a weekend in Vegas..............I would sure get an arm rest if I was going on an extended trip.
