Default So.. you think your radio cover is squeaking? THINK AGAIN!!!

So everytime I would drive on the freeway or at higher speeds on bumpy roads especially, I would here a CONSTANT high pitch squeak from the radio cover area, it was driving my crazy, more crazy than the 4 rattles in my hatch because you could not drown it out with music!!!

so I took the console out and looked at the back, trying to find the source of the squeak, and what did I come up with? THE AC VENTS!!!

There are three metal tabs, one on the very left, one in the center, and one on the very right RIGHT below the AC vents, inside the metal tabs are small plastic pieces that move around and squeak... so I sprayed a small amount of lithium grease on each one, and NO MORE SQUEAK!

Hope this helps you, I know that squeak drives you CRAZY!!

It varies.. many peoples actually come from the radio door. That is where mine came from the first week I had the car, but it stopped on its own. Some have had it happen due to the screws holding the radio door assembly onto the console bezel being loose. Others because the spring and gear assembly for the door needed grease.

But, this sounds like one more possible cause, so good job fixing it.
