i know manual is always faster than automatic but how much faster if it was 2 stock tc's but one whats automatic how much would you beat it by

 

dude search.......! both posts you made there are 100s others like it if you serach you will find the answers. to answer this one the m/t is 1 full second faster then the a/t on the 1/4. so unless the m/t tC doesnt know how to drive the m/t will always win.

 

I always wondered the same thing. I have in a 'closed course environment under professional supervision' tested this experiment with my buddy Sean out here in San Diego. He has the BlackBlade (Black and orange theme). I didn't beat him by AS MUCH as I thought I would, I pulled on him, but I have to admit, he surprised me. My 5-spd>his auto by about high rpms in 3rd. That's where you really start to get a lead. Maybe we'll make a video for you. At the time we were both running basically the same setup. Injen CAI's, he had an open factory exhaust, mine was stock. Now I have a cf hood/hatch, he has a poly bodykit and a sub box. haha. Can't wait to try it again!

After driving my friend's modded automatic, I gained a bit more respect for it.

The manual will always be faster mod/mod, but a bolton auto could take a stock manual. Remember that with an auto, there is no "driver error," and the percentage powertrain lost can be made up somewhat quickly with engine mods.

I'm not saying autos should go around thinking they're the king of the streets, but they certainly aren't hopeless.

 

i think if you're talking about straight away racing/drag...the auto and manual would be semi-similiar.....but put the auto and manual on an autocross track, and see that the manual is far superior......i mean, going straight these days doesn't say too much about your car, unless you race on a real track....if you're looking for just heads up drag....manual will take it no prob, but other than that, the auto should not keep up on a normal track with turns....

With intake, pulley, stiffy, and axleback I beat a stock 5spd tC. Perhaps it was driver error on his part but still I gave him a good run. He scared me off the line though with his wheels screeching but I got him and I had a buddy with me.

 

+ a sub and amp in the back.

and he spent 800 or so LESS than your car stock...

it all depends on the driver..

i have beet a manual tC with only a CAI and header back exhaust..

also, i do shift on my own with the L-2-3-D feature we have.. that way i can redline every gear so i can achieve the maximum amount of hp given from my mods..

 

Truthfully- no matter what you do scions with still suck. Get a honda...it's just sooo much better.

its a trade off thing.

auto's have great low end because of the torque converter, but for that same reason they loose high end. manuals are have driver error, but no power train losses other than gear ratio's.

if you did a search you would have already known this. I posted some great info on another thread a while back explaining my answers. so no I will not do it agian.

and if your wondering if you should get an auto or manual, it depends on what you want to do with the car, for instance if you like drag racing get an auto, they are much more consistant and will benifet in your 60' times cause of the low end torque. everyone knows a tenth of your 60' is two tenths of your 1/4. if you like auto cross get a manual, you benifit from a closer ratio transmission and the ability to select the right gear without the delay. if you just want a fun daily driver, thats your call, do you do alot of rush hour driving, county road, ect. you need to some research and figure out what is right for you, not just what makes more power.
