I tried getting more opinions on my other post but no luck. Basically I have been going back and forth for about 3 weeks. I am finally going to just order one t/m after reading about 1,000 posts on here. I need some opinions here. Which intake should I get..AEM or Injen? I know the AEM comes with a bypass valve, the injen does not. Also is the bypass valve really necessary? Please post which intake I should get and where to find that intake for the cheapest price. Again I am ordering t/m so quick responses would be great! Thanks.

if i remember the AEM does not come with the bypass valve. You buy it seperate for around $40. Pretty much everyone will say Injen, but i say be different and get AEM? Just IMO

good question.. i myself is that predicament..

I personally would go w aem coz of their dryflow filter.. no oils when cleaning.. coz sometime people tend to over oil their filter after cleaning them which may or may not damage the sensory components of the intake.. at least this eliminates that possibility...
powerwise.. i haven't yet seen a dyno chart of this. so far.. injen is the leading brand w/ regards to Hp gains.. bigger tubes.. and almost everyone in scionlife has them..

Again.. these cai produce unoticable Hp gains but will greatly improve the sound aesthetically giving you a sporty feel so just pick one brand that suits/is your fav..

bypass valves are there to prevent hydrolocking of the intake.. but youd have to pass by at least 2-3 feet of water causing immersion of your filter in the water.. for that to happen.. i doubt there'd be that much of a flood in PA.. ordinary rainy days wont produce hydrolock..

i already ordered an aem CAI but will not use the bypass.. i'll just insert it should the need arise..

good luck... on the install..

I have actually had both on my car and recommend the AEM intake over the Injen.

My number one reason for this is that the AEM intake is SO much easier to install and comes with a choice of colors.

I have the polished one - but others have the choice of red, blue, and polished.

HP you won't notice the difference...I say go AEM and be different...like ppl are saying everyone has the injen. The color selection is a pretty sweet option.

injen is best IMO, many friends own it and couple own the AEM but they both like either one..so i dont know but choose what one you want :D

AEM is the same as the TRD right? 2.5"? The injen is 3.0" injen is a pain to get in the hole...

lol well its pretty much a split decision here, I dont really care about color choices because I will be getting polished. I would love to see a dyno on the aem if I had that it would make things a lot easier. Keep the opinions coming guys.

I think the AEM is pretty new to the market so no one has purchased it and dynoed it. As mentioned, the Injen pipe may have some trouble getting through the hole in the fender area.
I had an AEM intake on my old car, and will probably go with them again. They come with a lifetime warranty and customer service is pretty good.

i went with the Injen personally just because i know that Injen makes quality CAI and i have the SRI on my turbo eclipse and it's great!!

I just installed the Injen CAI using the DIY found on this site...it sounds GREAT, but HP gain is hardly noticeable. The Injen is a total b**ch getting the CAI portion through the fender well and into place; you will scratch it up, unless you feel like removing the fender as well.

I don't know anyone around here who is using an AEM CAI, so I can't say how difficult it is to install.

Ok well the only thing hindering me from just getting the injen is the install. I have been reading post after post of how terrible the install for the injen is. I would just go with the aem but there is no videos or sound clips of it. I wish one of you guys with the aem could just get a real quick clip of a drive by with your intake. I love the injen sound but the installs a pain. From what I hear aem is easy install but I havent heard the sound of it, nor has anyone commented on the sound. PLEASE ANYONE WITH THE AEM, HOW IS THE SOUND? If possible post up a vid.

^ Im pretty sure the AEM only put spmething like 3 hp down and the injen was like 7-8 hp. again, you wont really notice the difference, however i lean more towards injen.

Install does not take long at all. takes a little finese and maybe 2 more minutes. i never had 1 scratch on it. I actually took it off and put it back on 3 times( dont ask me what for). good luck with your choice...

I have the TRD exhaust so do you think they will sound similar? Also, I have heard many times that performance wise these intakes are just about even? Im leaning towards the aem right now due to the ease of install.

One more question guys, will I have any problems passing emmisions or inspections with either of these intakes in PA?

I just got an emissions and inspection done last week. I want to order one these intakes right now, I just want someone to clear this up for me. Will I have any troubles, aside from police, with these intakes?? Like I said I want to order in the next hour so please post more replies ASAP!

Dsport had something to say about the FUJITA CAI.

In the current issue there is a picture of the dyno too.

But from personal experience, what's your take?

^ LoL... Glad he went Injen! :P

I just took mine off today after almost a year of lovely service... Loved my Injen CAI and suggest it to anyone who wants one... not only is it the best looking IMHO in the engine bay, but performs at or above all the competition.

^ why did you take it off?

Yep... Currently a ZPI stage 0, but upgrading to a ZPI stage 1 within a few weeks ;P

That was the fastest and easiest sale for the CAI though, like 5 local people wanted it... same with my megan racing header....

my old engine bay - (My new one I have to finish today... MUCH more beautiful, BSP everywhere!)

Ok guys, I just wanted to see if there was anything I needed to know before installing the injen intake. I finally got it yesterday and will be installing tommorow. One question, I dont have to remove the front bumper do i? If there is any tips anyone has before the install that would be great! Wish me luck!

Just read the instructions before the install. youll be fine. I never removed the front bumoer, but you do need to remove the driver wheel and wheel well which is conected to the front bumper. take out the battery. One hour at the most. Good Luck

Ok guys I installed it! I installed it as a full CAI no short ram for me! It took me 3 hours total but man was it worth it! If anyone is considering an intake GO WITH INJEN. It is a pain in the a$$ to install but wow its sounds awesome and you get a nice kick in higher rpms.

the scratches are almost inevitable. But you cant really see them because they are on the piece that goes down through the fender. But yes im very happy with my decision! Hmmmmm whats next.... :lalala:
