first of all if you havent heard by now, toyota has dropped celica and the mr2 from production.

now that the celica is finito.... should we anticipate higher demand for the tc considering that its the next closest thing to a celica that toyota has?

the tC really isn't all that close to the celly. the tC is heavy and curvy the celica was trim and sharp. I think it sux that they are completely doing away with the celica hopefully they will have a true sports car to replace it.

I don't think the demand for the tC will go up. Instead, I think it was the already present demand for the tC that helped this decision along. It's like having cars competing with each other. I'm sure the Celica will take a little breather from the public eyes, get a make over, and be re-released. The name just has too much Market Awareness to go away forever.

i heard they are bringing the supra back in 05. the supra is definitely a "true" sportscar unlike rsx, celica, eclipes, etc. they said the base model will start below 30k.

Don't hold your breath on this one. This rumor has been going around for years...as of right now Toyota has no plans to bring back the Supra. I definately wouldn't complain if they did.

Just cross your fingers that the TC won't turn into such a girls car as the Celica did. It seems that every hairdresser has a Celica or non-turbo Eclipse. Nothing wrong with it, but it kills the image of the car.

Image isn't what other people make it. It's what you make it. cars are machines it's all about how you handle yours and treat yours. chicks or no chicks. my grandma used to drive nsx.

I can definetally see a RWD sports car in toyota's future, to compete with the rising trend of RWD in the market today..

i think if Toyota brought out a 2 door Corolla, it would be popular. especially with the 170 hp. that would be a decent replacement for the celica. the price would be less and i don't think it would really take sales away from the tC because the price would be a bit more than it.

mm i dunno about that one... the corolla replacing the celica? the images for the cars are too different, even though the new corollas are *much* nicer.

i'm thinking that maybe toyota wants to shift marketing focus onto the Scion line, and start pushing high-performance vehicles to beef up the Scion name while still maintaining the Pure Price strategy in order to win customers over. toyota and lexus can then become what it aims to be, a brand that Scioners graduate to when they're older.

well, both cars will stop being sold in the USA by the end of their 2005 model year, which is probably more than a year from now...
