I've had my Injen SRI in for a while and finally figured I would change it to CAI.

First, I tried just take the wheel and splash guard away and that didn't give me enough room to work with.

So, I took of the bumper as well and I still am not getting close to getting the secondary intake pipe through.

Any suggestions from anybody that has already installed this? Did you go from the bottom or the top to get it in?

bottom worked...u really have play with it...it is a pain in the @ss!! scratches from hell! good luck!

I loosened to top of the fender bolts and moved it a bit out of the way and then put it back... gave me enough room to work with.

i also loosened the fender, it woked but it was still a pita and it took a chunk of skin off my finger too.

^ Yeah... I suggest wrapping the piping too, to protect from scratching... which is almost inevitable without protection.

You should see my arms today... scratch to hell after my turbo install (so many little spaces to tighten things up in)

Did you take your driver wheel off also? That might help. I have installed them both ways... It was easier on a lift with the wheel off. You can just crank your wheel all the way to the right and peel back the plastic. It's like a plastic garbage can, you can pop it out of place, and when you are done, it can be popped right back into it's mold. I loosened the fender bolts the first time, but not the second time around.

Yeah, I removed the wheel and peeled the plastic back as well. But there seems to be something holding the plastic in place near the opening, because it won't move back any further. I removed the popout behind the wheel, but it still won't budge back.

I guess I have to just keep trying, maybe this weekend. Thanks for the info, I just wasn't sure it there was cool magic trick all you know.

theres about 3-4 clips under there that need to be removed so that you can get it half way off (after bumper is removed). Kepp messing with it, the injen is a pain to get in there...its still a tight fit with the bumper, inner fender, and wheel off.

im struggling with mine rite now. i can't get that thing in there. there's just not enough room and its completely scratched up. y oh y. ok well atleast i noe its possible. ok well back to work. :come: bring it on injen

It's possible.... we just put the one I took out of my tC into another in 25 minutes TOTAL, without even undoing the metal front fender... it's just carefull wigling, with some electrical tape wrapped around the piping to keep it protected.... it'll get in there.

where the filter goes that should point toward the wheel well when you put it through that hole. it should then slide right in.. and then adjust it so it goes int he right area. then yorue good to go..

ok so its in now.. wat happened was that for some stupid reason it was put in upside down so had to struggle with gettin that out which was horrible. its covered in scratches now but workin =\ bittersweet

I did just that. I put it in witht he filter part facing the opposite way and it slipped right in. Then I simply turned it. Way too easy. Wish I would have tried that a lot earlier before scratching it all up. I wish I could get the scratches out now.

tape sounds good i tried using towel. it just gets in the way so the 2nd cai ended up scratched up :cry: but properly installed.
and are the straight hoses supposed to be on when u attach the two intake pieces and filter together?

I didnt take the wheel off, nor did I have to jack my car. Just turned the wheel all the way to the left. Peeled back fender well and it went in.

so i hate injen now... it was so easy to install it after i read this thread... god i swear i was on that thing for over 2 hrs trying to get that last piece in... then i came here and it took me 2 sec. i was like... wtf is going on here? but yeah about to finish up. this thign is gonna be awesome!
