View Full Version : Should I powdercoat my RS 2.0 grill? (Updated 11/15 w/pics!)
cvrefugee 09-16-2006, 06:39 AM I've been debating whether or not to get my RS 2.0 grill powdercoated flat black. Here are some before/after pics, what do you guys think?

bkelly23 09-16-2006, 07:57 AM definitely yes. the sooner the better. that looks sick.
greenguyshrek 09-16-2006, 09:41 AM It would look alot better if you were to powdercoate
thegoatlord 09-16-2006, 01:30 PM do it.
and clear out your headlights :P
chadfo 09-16-2006, 01:42 PM Go for it!
wagonbldr 09-16-2006, 02:05 PM I like mine the way it is. It already looks like it has 2 toaster slots. Don't need a bagel slot as well. Just my $0.02.
Archngl 09-16-2006, 04:18 PM Personally, I'd get mesh to make the botton two match and then clear the corners...
yeah.
OldYeller 09-16-2006, 04:23 PM I had mine painted black before I replaced with the OD grill. It was not powercoated so it chipped a lot and I had to touch up often. I liked the look better than the stock.
I would do it. Let me know where and how much. You are only 30 min. down the road from me.
I want to add mesh to the bottom two slots as well.
YELOSUB 09-17-2006, 03:59 AM I would say YES...I didn't powder coat mine but I did paint it black and put several coats of clear, so far no chipping...I love the way it looks and it ties in with the lower two grills...Here's a couple pics:

cvrefugee 09-17-2006, 04:57 AM I have a friend who does powdercoating, so I would definitely go that route. That looks good YELOSUB, so far I'm leaning to get it done.
Not a big fan of clearing the turn signals, I prefer the amber reflectors.
YELOSUB 09-17-2006, 05:03 AM ^^^I have amber led bulbs for the turn signals that look sweet when they are on^^^
cvrefugee 09-22-2006, 04:52 PM Update:
Well, it seems I can't get it powercoated. It looks like I can't take off the plastic backing and since that can't be put in the oven I'm SOL. Is that why you guys painted yours?

Hey Cvrefugee....you can get it powdercoated but what you need to do is drill out the rivets and take the plastic backing off and once it is powdercoated you will have to install new rivets. I was going to do that until I bought the Street Scenes speed grille.
Archngl.... here are what it looks like with the bottoms done as well....they are Street Scene's Speed Grille's. I actually did all three with the speed Grille because the pattern was slightly different than whats on the 2.0. the 2.0 if I can remember right has more of a diamond shape where as the Street Scene's has a slight radius in the vertical part of the diamond. Hope that makes sense....plus the street scenes grille was all aluminum versus the stock 2.0 grill is more of a gunmetal color.

Xb_Stud 09-22-2006, 06:44 PM I would do it. But then again, I blacked out my whole car.
