how do u get off the door speakers without breaking something? im trying to put some new speakers in but i dont see how u get the old ones off. help please.

 

the ones on an xB I worked on are riveted in, you had to drill out the metal rivets. I would also suggest getting speaker adapters if you need them. Does it look like there are little metal pop-rivets holding it in?

 

yea they do look like little pop rivets

 

get a drill bit or uni-bit and CAREFULLY drill them out... its the best and easiest way.... but just to give you fare warning... you will need to make speaker adapters... the hole is enormous that the factory baffle makes...

 

a 1/8" drill bit is needed to drill out the rivets. also, be prepared to do some prying with pliers to pop the existing speaker/baffel from the door frame itself.

 

or you can do what i did (that is if you plan on keeping the car for awaile)... get a really sharp knife and hack away... after the baffel is out you will need to cut out the basket thats behind it

 

I suggest drilling and making baffles from MDF or buying them from www.edesignaudio.com

 

WELL I ENDED UP BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF THE BAFFELS AND USED CEMENT GLUE TO HOLD THE NEW SPEAKERS IN. THEN WHEN MY B/F WAS PUTTING THE PANEL BACK ON HE PUT A HOLE IN ONE OF THE SPEAKERS. (THESE ARE THE BACK SPEAKERS) SO HAD TO GO BUY NEW ONES. ALSO WHEN I I TRIED TO REPLACE MY TWEETERS WITH NEW ONES MY FACTORY DOOR SPEAKERS WOULDN'T WORK. SO I HOOKED 2 TWEETERS TO THE FACTORY ONE ON EACH SIDE SO NOW I HAVE 8 TWEETERS IN MY CAR. LETS JUST SAY IT SCREAMS.
