I won't bother to list artists, etc., but I'll say that out of the two dozen CDs in my xB, several are my "long drive" CDs.
They are MP3 CDs that run just over 6 hours each. One is a very up-beat, rather loud set of mostly AOR, jazz, and such, another is a much quieter mix of jazz, big band, etc. I also have a 6+ hour CD of assorted classicical, leaning toward Russian and German composers, and a 6+ hour mix of "New Age"...
Works pretty well for me - just pop in the 'set' that fits current mood, and drive.

I have an iPod, too. It's hard to narrow it down to a few songs, as it's soo about the mood and the drive. But if I had to pick, I'd say Johnny Cash, Ben Harper, MIA, Nick Drake, and Banco de Gaia.
if I gotta pick 5 actual CDs and not my MP3 player:
Garth Brooks: Live
Barenaked Ladies: All Their Greatest Hits 1991-2001
Blink 182 : Enema of the State
Ben Folds: Rockin the S uburbs (thanks Gabi for opening my eyes)
Any Aerosmith CD
