Default Ummm.... Fires are scary

So right now it's about 6:25am I'm at work a little shaken up. I just had one of the scariest moments of my life. Here at my work I have a propane fired generator in case of emergencies it will run this huge electric fan on the roof to suck the air out of my work station. Well it's on a timer to come on at 6:15am on Thursdays, so I'm working away and I start to smell burning, so I open my doors to the rest of the shop and see that someone has put a brand new power chair next to the exhuast of my generator. So in a panic a just shoved the power chair outside and covered it in ABC chemical from the little fire extinguisher. This might not seem like that big of a deal but if that fire would have gotten two feet on the other side of the room I can promise you I would be on the news cause a little fire mixed with a few MILLION cubic feet of liquid and compressed oxygen makes one heck of a big boom. I'm so ____ed right now had to vent.

Hey, good quick thinking on your part. Sucks it had to happen but I had that with a grease fire when some dumba** threw a wet rag on it to "put it out" and splashed the ignited grease all over the walls of a hotel. Baking powder works wonders to delay the burning until you can run out and grab an extinguisher form the balcony.

Wow.... so glad that turned out the way it did Zach...

I just stopped by to visit him this week and saw that place with my own eyes... THERE is a TON of Compressed Liquid Oxygen and just as much Oxygen gas...

Guess new safety proceedures are going to go in place for near the generator...

Once again, glad it came out ok...

It's got to be a trust thing... responsibility is KEY with materials like that.... no room for people who don't respect the power of OX.

With Oxygen.. you can get any stain out of any material..... just mix a spoon full of oxy with water.... spray... and light... and boom... no more stain!!!!1

sorry... bored at work.... but yeah ...smoking and flamable materials... not good..... i also forsee a large cage going around that generator exhaust to ensure its got ample breathing room now

Yeah one small detail that I forgot to say in the original post was that when I opened the roll up door to get the power chair out it was too hot to touch so I kicked it so hard that I broke the shoe lace on my left steel toe. I didn't realized that I hurt my foot until I went to start my car and pushed the clutch in ouch!! Oh and the solution to the problem that the others came up with was to put an orange cone by the exhaust.
