Hello all, Just wondering if there are any other turbo'd tC's running around MI. If anyone out there is let me know and maybe we meet up and share info.

I am considering getting the TRD supercharger, but am also seriously considering going with a turbo. My problem is that I don't want to fail emissions tests because of a turbo.

I didnt think Ohio had e checks? As long as the car has a Pre-cat and a main cat it will pass a sniffer test.

If you drove a s/c'd tC then a turbo you wouldnt even consider a s/c. Ive driven both.

How reliable has your turbo setup been so far? I'm still planning on S/C on my '07 (when I can get SC), and I have plenty of other mods that have to come first (light suspension mods, better tires, etc.)

The turbo has been good so far. I mean Ive run into a few problems but about the same kinda stuff youll see with a s/c. Before you pay a crap loud for a s/c go test drive one. I wasnt impressed. Get some better brake too. I just did racing pads and thats fine. I did all that stuff before the turbo as well....very good i dea.

I drive my car everyday so its reliable. The problems I'm talking about are like finding the right temp plugs...gapping them.....just little stuff so far. I'm about to start a entire rebuild with forged pistons, rods, and ZPI's stage 1 head when it gets too cold to drive the tC around. So look out....haha. I'll prolly be running in the 350-400whp rage by spring hehe

Just remember the warranty thing with the TRD S/C. I believe your engine will retain its 5/60 warranty if a dealer installs the S/C.
Engines can be expensive, so careful not to overboost if you go turbo.

In all honesty, I'd love to drive your car and then find an S/C'ed one to drive as well. The reason I'm leaning toward the SC instead of turbo is the warranty option - I've got an '07 with only 4.5k miles on it, and I don't see myself slapping TONS of miles on there before the five years are up anyway.

I'm not S/Cing for a while, anyway - I'm probably going to graduate school at this point and that'll be a lot of money / work. I'm going to focus on balancing this thing out a bit more... the suspension blows, shifting is loose and tall as hell, the car is fairly unstable and I can't take a hard turn on a cloverleaf at more than 60mph. Tires, suspension, something to clean up the shifting issue, etc... go for some solid balance while I can and then SC when I have something close to what's right.


Edit: and 350-400whp? Damn son, somebody needs a Quaife.

Yeah a LSD is in my future. If you plan on modding the S/C at all then your better off going turbo. Any dealer will tell you that you'll lose any toyota/trd warrenty if you touch the S/C. As long you have a good tune on a turbo the motor will last just as long and run just as good if you were to s/c it.

If any dealers out in Ann Arbor dont have a s/c tC I think The Scion dealer in Troy has one, I could be wrong.....I know they did have one. Might be awhile before the s/c even comes out for the 07.
