View Full Version : Garage1217's Open Garage day! Oct 8th 06! Check it out!
Garage1217 09-30-2006, 05:05 AM Yo guys. I have decided to have a small open shop for anyone looking to install some mods before HIN! You will have access to all my hand tools, air tools, Gadgets and general crap in the air conditioned garage! Pretty much anything you need to do that will take 1 day can be done with ease! I will host a BBQ, pizza, munchies, grand turismo action, whatever you want!
I do not expect a large turnout as I am way down in Coolidge, 1/2 way to Tucson, but feel free to bring a friend and hang out or get to installing! Are you a total noob at cars? No prob, as long as you’re willing to get your hands dirty, I am here to help.
Please reserve your spot on this post. I think I can accommodate up to 5 projects or more depending on size and about 6-8 cars. My place is not huge so I have to limit total qty of people. Reserve your space now! All free of charge.
The RULES....
#1 Expect to get your hands dirty and do the main labor on your project, I am not hosting this for you to have your stuff installed free by me or anyone that shows.
#2 Do not come just to rock your project and leave. If your project is finished, please jump in and help others in any way you can. I expect this from everyone.
#3 Respect my tools, house and my equipment. If I go away missing tools, trash all over or missing stuff from the garage, This event sure as heck will never happen again
#4 No ghetto bumping, peeling out, speeding or any crap around my home. I have 7 police officers as neighbors and they will nail you quick for doing stupid stuff. Speed limit in my community is 15MPH and it is strictly inforced. Lots of kids playing.
thats awesome that you'd open up your house for us jeremy! depending on what i come up with before hin i might take you up on that. thanks
Garage1217 09-30-2006, 05:20 AM Just thought it would be a good chance for the broke "like me" to save some $$$ on having stuff installed when he / she is capable of doing it themselves! Hope I have at least a small turn out. Will be loads of fun.
Kahuna 09-30-2006, 05:24 AM I need lights done...May I have a spot?
Garage1217 09-30-2006, 05:26 AM Of course, what kind of lights..?
PHXLOCO 09-30-2006, 05:58 AM kahuna i just sis your lights..... lol! jeremy save me a spot i got lights and a pulley to install! by the way do you have that pulley in blue by chance???
Garage1217 09-30-2006, 06:12 AM Yo, I do not man sorry! Only that grey one. But hey, we can install it in about 15 minutes or less!
PHXLOCO 09-30-2006, 06:19 AM done deal!
dagarhart 09-30-2006, 06:39 AM That is cool of you to offer that. I might have to take you up on it. Depends on if it cools off a little so I can install some stuff at my house.
Garage1217 09-30-2006, 06:43 AM Down here in Coolidge we are about 10F cooler, and also I have AC in the shop :)

Will open the shop starting at 8am. Anyone that has a quick project and is coming because they are LAZY but capable *LOL* please give a hand to the others with there projects! Remember guys, safety first. For the guru's that are in the know, I will also make available my table saw and small assortment of woodworking gear if you or anyone needs to build a box or whatever!
Just an FYI, anyone coming and that will be working on or around cars, basically anything other than grand turismo in the house will need to sign a waiver so if you do something by accident or hurt yourself you’re not going to sue me, crazy world these days! I will do my best to keep everyone safe at all times. I have a small assortment of safety glasses and a face shield...

Would be totally cool if you can show man! An experienced installer is a DEFINITE welcome. No way I can handle all this myself! Let me know asap if you can show! Now if we can only drag Big J out here to help with some installs, that would be killer!
Remember guys, you do not HAVE to have a project to come! Any help is welcome. There looks to be allot of people with stuff to do and not enough extra hands to go around!
Garage1217 10-01-2006, 12:06 AM I was asked via PM what kind of tools and stuff will be available....
in roof air attached to a 60 gallon compressor
7 horse shop vac
gas powered pressure washer
20 ton press
vise
open benches
electric and air impacts
all kinds of grinders and air tools
table saw, router, jig saw and other wood tools
all kinds of 12v electrical stuff
man that just bairly scratches the surface... I am pretty much equiped to handle any kind of project large or small so have no worries that I will not have the right tools when ya get here!
KooLAiD 10-01-2006, 01:57 AM Thanks for looking out for me Ron.
Great idea Jeremy. I will be grabbing a pulley from you to install along with bringing some other new toys. Can't wait.

Great idea Jeremy. I will be grabbing a pulley from you to install along with bringing some other new toys. Can't wait.
Yo :) Just remember, you guys are going to be doing 99% of the work, I am just here to help!! Email me what pulley(s) you plan to install so I can make sure you have the correct belt
dudehitt 10-01-2006, 08:22 AM Hey man, put me on the maybe list in case somebody really needs the spot. I'm doing my shims tomorrow but I may or may not have a little project to work on, depending on shipping schedules. By no means am I a mechanic or installer, but I can solder and turn wrenches so I'd like to at least help out for a little while depending on what the family schedule is like. This weekend was a little crazy with all the diabetes fundraisers so I'll have to let you know for sure in a day or two.
DTRUONG_112 10-01-2006, 05:21 PM would you be able to check my fuel pressure and pressure check my car to see if I have any boost leaks? If so I def will drop by, Im also new to AZ, recently moved down here so I dont know of any shops to go to...its a boosted tC.

Yo, I cannot check the tc's fuel pressure, I am not sure how to on the tc's non looped system. Have not seen any place to tap into with ease. Also not sure how to pressure check for boost leaks either without tearing down a ton of stuff and custom making plugs. sorry!
sexyxb 10-01-2006, 05:42 PM Jeremy, did u know that there were 2 different Kyle in this group. I'm Kyle (sexyxb) and the other Kyle is (koolaid). Just wanted to let you know. Hear from u soon.

ScottsdaleTC 10-01-2006, 05:48 PM Were are you located at and do you have the room for a turbo install.
Garage1217 10-01-2006, 05:53 PM Were are you located at and do you have the room for a turbo install.
Hey man, I am down in Coolidge. 1/2 way to Tucson. This event is for small quick projects, stuff people have a hard time doing by themselves or at an apartment complex. A turbo install would take a full day at least and also I do not have a welder on hand at the moment to weld the return feed nipple to your oil pan. Now do I have the overall room and equipment to do an install..? Yeah not a problem.
Garage1217 10-01-2006, 06:05 PM Just a note, I have had a few people confused on the date and time. This open garage day is for Sunday the 8th of October. Door opens at 8am.
Also, Anyone that wants to bring there laptops or whatever, I will open up a wireless channel you guys can all log into for high speed internet :)
DTRUONG_112 10-02-2006, 05:20 AM what about a LED swap...Ive been wanting to change my gauge cluster and center console to blue, I need the leds too...

Garage1217 10-02-2006, 02:02 PM what about a LED swap...Ive been wanting to change my gauge cluster and center console to blue, I need the leds too...
For the tc, I will not have time and would have to charge a normal rate for led work. I may be doing an xa or xb during the day but that is only becayse it takes me less than 25 minutes and if those people want that done they will be charged the normal rate. I did not have led work in mind for the garage day :) But anyone is more than welcome to buy led's if they would like to do it themselves!
DTRUONG_112 10-02-2006, 05:18 PM How much for the leds and the led work? Let me know when you would have time to do it too man...
dagarhart 10-02-2006, 05:23 PM oohh ooh.. can you help me.. I need lets see.. :ponder: my rear shims done.

dagarhart 10-02-2006, 05:29 PM I am confirmed. All I have to do is put some LEDs in my suspension and put on my grills if they come in. I have heard that I might need to grind part of my grill to get it to fit, do you have a grinder that I can use? I think this is really cool of you.
I will also be on hand to help if anyone else needs help. Heck, I might even bring the best gofor that you have seen. Ask Basil. He is good. lol
soGone 10-02-2006, 05:34 PM ill try and come pending i have my dezod exaust to install
NoLimitzBuilt 10-02-2006, 06:37 PM LMAO at turbo install.. That is a quick easy one.. maybe 15 minutes.

keoki 10-03-2006, 06:27 AM I can come over as well to help. since as how im a ase certified tech. I can help out with anything. probably work on my car as well.
soGone 10-03-2006, 07:16 AM "Were are you located at and do you have the room for a turbo install."
Dezods turbo should not take more than 6-7hrs if you know what you are doing its almost a direct bolt on kit. I better know that kit by now... then again you have a TEA from what i understand which may be a bit more complicated.l
But hey u cant fail taking it to a shop!
hey, change me to a confirmed please. I'll more than likely have some stuff to work on still.
cliffud 10-03-2006, 08:11 AM Hey all,
I'm interested in coming out to see the shop and hang out with some Scion owners. I don't have scion just yet - I'm looking for an XB as daily driver.
Can I still attend?
Thanks all.
Clifford
Crispyxb 10-03-2006, 08:41 PM Crispyxb, Possible.
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 08:53 PM I will post changes... I have to cap it off though for projects as I simply do not have enough room for so many and definitly do not have even close to enough money to feed everyone and provide drinks.... I originally thought only 4-5 would be interested hahahaha All good though.
What I specifically need from you all that are confirmed is to post up exactly what mod you want to accomplish. Or if you plan to come and have no mod or project in mind.... I just wanna make sure we can actually get some of this done and not just a few projects....
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 08:55 PM Hey all,
I'm interested in coming out to see the shop and hang out with some Scion owners. I don't have scion just yet - I'm looking for an XB as daily driver.
Can I still attend?
Thanks all.
Clifford
Yes you are welcome, my shop is my garage *LOL* but it is setup very nice... suprises allot of people. So yeah, just wanna make sure everyone knows they are coming to garage 1217s house, not a storefront or large shop *LOL*!!!!
Crispyxb 10-03-2006, 08:56 PM No need to feed me. I will bring my own food and drink. I only wanna install cold cathodes in my engine bay.
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 09:00 PM ill try and come pending i have my dezod exaust to install
Unless it is an axle back, it will not be to simple as I do not yet have a lift.... Working on that though :)
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 09:02 PM No need to feed me. I will bring my own food and drink. I only wanna install cold cathodes in my engine bay.
All good man. mabey everyone can pitch in $3 or somthing, should help cover everything and I will cover the rest.
dagarhart 10-03-2006, 09:15 PM Whatever is good with me. I just know I would never get the stuff done at home in my carport. To many distractions.
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 09:33 PM I hear that man :) I did an engine swap in an apartment complex years and years ago, but back then that is what I had to work with no matter how ghetto it was. I did not have anyones shop or garage to help me. That is why I am going to host this. Hopefully we can rock allot of projects in a short time and with quality.
PHXLOCO 10-03-2006, 09:53 PM jeremy, count on me bringing drinks! ill stop by sams club and pick up some water, capri sns and mountain dews! ill supply the cooler and im sure i can get koolaid to buy some ice!
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 10:38 PM Hey man, SWEET! That is sooo appriciated! Will help out allot!
dudehitt 10-03-2006, 10:56 PM I'm going to have to pass on this one. Too many other things to get done.
cliffud 10-03-2006, 11:06 PM But - where is the garage??
Anyone have an address?
Thanks.
Clifford
Garage1217 10-03-2006, 11:11 PM The address will be emailed to each person confirmed, Along with a link to a map of how to gere there and contact information.
Kahuna 10-04-2006, 02:25 AM Count me as a difinite....Looking to do suspension lighting and maybe fog lights. Oh yeah, gauge cluster color swap.
I'll chip in 20 bucks to cover some of the food.
RBasil 10-04-2006, 03:53 AM I already installed my interior and undercar lighting this weekend. Just going to use the garage to figure out how to wire them up to the power. I have all the wires hanging right next to my fuse box for now.
P.S. I'll bring my own food and drink, no need to spend any cash to feed me but thanks for the offer!
RBasil 10-04-2006, 03:55 AM P.S. Sice I took my headliner out myself this weekend after I am done with my work I'll be more than happy to help anyone else remove their headliner if they need it. It's easy to take in and out once you have done one and know the process.
cliffud 10-04-2006, 06:23 AM I thought I should introduce myself more...
I don't have any projects that I'll be working on my car so don't worry Garage1217, I won't take up any garage space. I just want to see what people have done to their xb's since that's what I'm looking to purchase.
The current car is a 1998 lexus gs300. It's my daily driver right now but I'd like to get an xb since I do 30k in mileage a year. I'm a newbie to the scion life world but not a newbie to modding. :) Current mods on the car include: a front lip, tein cs, staggered 18x8.5/9.5 work termist tm1 wheels, l-tuned exhaust, jdm aristo stb, and a slightly upgraded stereo. :) *smirk*
Plans for my xb would be some light rims (maybe volks?), a slight drop, maybe a sub since I have a few subs and an amp laying around and possibly a sunroof. I test drove an xb 2 years ago from camelback toyota and loved it. They're great cars and so easy to drive. My only gripe is the lack of an armrest for both the front passengers. Other than that, it's a pretty cool car and a few people at my work drive them.
Thanks and hope to see you guys on Sunday morning. I'll bring some drinks / chips.
Clifford
awesometc 10-04-2006, 04:35 PM Jeremy,
I will bring cash to chip in for food & drinks
dagarhart 10-04-2006, 05:25 PM I have some suspension lighting I might want to try to install. Hopefully I will have my new grills too. I might try get the lighting done before, but not sure where to put the lights in the suspension (what to attach them to).
The grills should be pretty easy, just have to remove the front to install the lower ones.
I will pitch in some money to help pay for food. If you need me to bring some drinks or something, I will be willing to bring that too.
Garage1217 10-04-2006, 06:13 PM Right on guys, Just a few bucks ea should help cover everything. Probably order liked 6-8 pizza's...

Garage1217 10-05-2006, 07:19 PM I think that is a hot idea as well.... but if you run down az ave / 87... takes you through some of the more... not so nice looking parts of the rez...
