View Full Version : Increasing my power Cheshire_Cat 11-29-2003, 05:04 PM Here's what I've got....... AEM Cold Air Intake Tsudo Fireball Small Canisters with Dual Exhaust Any thoughts? its_ikon 11-29-2003, 05:49 PM i would change the dual exhaust to a single unless the exhaust has been tuned to the car to produce power. dual exhaust with the power the scion has will be hard to get power out of. you would probably want to look at a full exhaust system if only have the muffler. i would add a small shot of nos for direct power. what exactly are you looking for thoughts on? Cheshire_Cat 11-29-2003, 08:40 PM Here are some of my Ideas...... Cat Back System Turbo Kit Changing the stock spark plug wires to increase power Anything else? Mr_scion 11-29-2003, 09:53 PM throttle body underdiver pullys showpaojoe 11-29-2003, 10:02 PM Since we all pretty much have the exact same things, this will definitely help everybody. What about building the internals enough to hold a good 50-75 shot of nitrous. Ask greenbox, I think he said it can only hold like 15-20% continuous so that's still only like a 20hp jet. And he did all the testing so he had the right info. I'd ask him first. If you could handle the 50 jet, I think your set. If anyone has ever had a turbo kit custom built, please post the price range were looking at. Hopefully under $4k. Thanx Hardhitten 11-30-2003, 03:15 AM Headers sound good to me anyone? DenZinz 11-30-2003, 05:00 AM to make decent power you will need to run some type of forced induction or spray. Bolt ons will only get you so much HP. Do they make decent cams for our cars? Cam gears? A header should be out soon. I think with the compresssion our car has, we should be able to unlock some secrets out of the car. Jason, only time will tell when more part come out for the xA and xB. its_ikon 11-30-2003, 05:08 AM you would probably want to wait on the exhaust until the turbo comes since that will have to be changed at that time. throttle body is good, but port matching the intake manifold is a must. if someone really wants to make power then boring out the engine, sleeving it and then adding better pistons and rods will do some magic. there are also cam gears along with new cam shafts. new cam shafts are tricky with the vvt-i engine. It can be done, but will only benefit someone if they are going for big power. underdrive pulleys are ok, but they do rob some power from the car and can case light diming and they are not recommended for people with a audio system. My understanding is.........upgraded wires will not give you INCREASED power............only more consistent power to help weed out to a degree those times when the car feels sluggish for some unknown reason. Any "increase" in power is not really an increase........as much as it is the spark plug wires helping the engine to more often run at its peak.........providing a better spark for better combustion on a more constant basis. My understanding on this could be wrong........as it often is................but that's just been what I've held as truth for a while. Anyone who knows otherwise.........please correct me............I'm all about learning new things. KiL |
