View Full Version : Best CAI system?
HiMyNameIsAndrew 10-02-2006, 10:05 PM I've had my TC (Auto) for around a month now and i was hoping to upgrade to a cold air intake system..
i was looking at an AEM system but then i saw a video and read a few reviews about them and they said there might be kind of a whistling noise..
and when i first checked out this forum, i saw that most people prefer injen intakes..
i know there's a buyer's guide to intake systems but i was hoping to get opinions from people who have upgraded theirs already and what they think is the best CAI system..
i'm looking for one that sounds sweet, but will give my car a good power boost as well.. but i'm mainly looking for something that'll sound pretty sick
any other mod suggestions would be cool to
thanks
InfideL 10-02-2006, 10:23 PM too many threads on this topic
injen is the best
all CAI have whistling sound its the throttle body design
beware of K&N...bracket breaker
thisisdudewhoru 10-02-2006, 10:31 PM Personally I think the k & N sounds best. But thats prolly cuz I have it. But I've had mine for almost 10k miles and my bracket hasnt broken. the bolts on the bracket have came lose a few times but other than that its pretty cool.
flintgauge86 10-02-2006, 10:35 PM Get the injen intake and you will be happy. It's everything you're looking for and sounds excellent!
MJVsTC 10-02-2006, 10:35 PM What year is your tC? If it's a 2007, then you don't have any choice...it'll be an Injen.
HiMyNameIsAndrew 10-02-2006, 10:40 PM i have an 07.. i realize injen is the only CAI system right now for an 07 but i can always wait awhile if there's a better brand i should buy
the F5 Fujita CAI warrants consideration. I freakin' love mine.

Pics on the same thread.
EPIDEMIC 10-02-2006, 10:58 PM fugita is identical to injen but least expensive. i had injen on last car now i have fugita. ill go with either one...........btw the whistling is kinda hot
KINGxOFxSKA 10-03-2006, 12:03 AM Just go with the cheapest. They're all identical in size tubing and very similar in design.
BuddhasTC 10-03-2006, 12:24 AM Injen is a quality, reputable product that not just tC owners choose, a lot of tuners have chosen...i'm not saying it's the best, because who am i, or any of us for that matter, to determine whats best...but it's pretty good. As for hp gains, unless you have I/H/E, you're not gonna notice any kind of gain from the CAI
jjos1 10-03-2006, 12:34 AM Injen all the way, after all you can make it a cai or sri. I'm very happy with mine the sri has a very nice tone also.
HiMyNameIsAndrew 10-04-2006, 04:44 AM alright so i've decided to go with an injen CAI.. thanks for the help..
does anyone know where i can order one for an automatic 07 tc?.. i know where to order one for a manual but not an automatic..

docjpv 10-04-2006, 04:50 AM the mod city is doing a GB on this for 07 same kit for MT/AT.. pm him
O5_tC 10-04-2006, 04:57 AM alright so i've decided to go with an injen CAI.. thanks for the help..

does it matter the tranny on an 05 tc with them AEM CAI system?
MJVsTC 10-04-2006, 10:49 AM Transmission type makes ZERO difference.
It will only void the warranty if it is the direct cause to an issue.
It sounds like you need to do more homework before you start modding your car up.
piercedlip81 10-04-2006, 01:30 PM I ordered this for $75 shipped and throwing on a K&N. I've had intakes before and the price diff vs function isnt worth $75 vs $250 to me.

I'll post up a review w/ pics, etc.

well i didnt think the transmission made any difference, but when i looked at the injen air intake at killertc.com it said for 5 spd manual transmissions.. then i checked if anybody was selling new ones on ebay and i found one, but it said it was for manuals only..
and i was pretty sure about the warranty thing, but i figured there was no harm in asking just to make sure..
kdog_1981 10-06-2006, 01:48 PM I have trd and love mine!
fherjohn 10-06-2006, 06:07 PM injen is tha bomb!!!!!
kdog_1981 10-06-2006, 06:17 PM tha bomb?
adTCi 10-06-2006, 11:46 PM injennnn!
Bluechualappa 10-06-2006, 11:51 PM There all about the same. I have K&N and love it. K&N is suppost to have the best filters out there but I really can't say. BTW that carbon looking intake above looks like the exact tubing as my bllue k&n only carbon and different filter? But whatever if they only make the injen then you only have that choice.
malibuboy54 10-07-2006, 04:43 AM i have the aem one....i chose aem for every car i've had (scion tC, honda prelude)...no complaints.....i think in general, there is no brand that is that much better, since cai will not give you a significant gain....i know everyone says injen, etc.....i just think everybody goes for whetever everyone else has....i would go with what you like....personal choice rather than choice of the masses...but injen aint bad, haha
