Default Is the stock iPod HU easily transferrable?

I recently upgraded my stock head unit with the Alpine 9856. I'm a very happy camper with the upgrade but now I have a leftover stock head unit with the iPod controls. My friend was thinking about installing the HU for his TC but I was wondering if I needed to get a security code (I recall having to do this with my old Civic HU).

Also, do all the TC's come with the iPod cable that connects to the back of the HU, or do I need to pull it out of my car? It seemed like a huge hassel to remove the one that was in my TC, so I just left it there for now.

You'll need two things to do what you want to do.......
First is an adapter for the hu to stock wiring.
Second is an adapter for stock (whatever his car is) to new hu wiring.
I was thinking about doing this in my sisters 02 cavalier. They sell both. The second will be at almost any tweeter, circuit city, or radio shack. The first........will be SCION/TOYOTA specific. This part will probably be hard to find. I found one on ebay, but I don't have the link anymore. Sorry.
As far as your ipod controls are concerned........Yeah, sorry, you'll either have to take out the wiring you have in your tc now, or try to find the wiring sold somewhere. Maybe at the dealer?????
Good luck.

if your HU is going into a another tC.. just hook it up... plug and play. (none of that wiring stuff in the previous post required)

unless he as an '05 tC.. then the iPod cable that goes into the unit should be there.

and then taking out the cabling that runs to the armrest and the cable from the armrest into the iPod is the only thing you need to get out of your car... the cable that goes into the HU is there though at least.

no security code needed.

Now I know why your name is so familiar squallheart. I just went to the other two scion sites that I post to regularly. I noticed you name on one of the posts. Then I checked the other. Same thing. Yoursciontc.com and Clubsciontc.com. Sup.
