...how would one go about doing this conversion? Would you just somehow jam the internal one shut and run an external one like normal?

I would imagine you just weld the flapper shut for the internal wastgate... But im not real familar with how the manifold is and where you would put the external at.. that maybe your biggest issue.

Yes it can be done, just need to find a good fabricator, and a wastegate flange.
