well i finished cutting now ill be making up a light

aww.. you cut out the middle of the "O"...?

what are you using to light them up?

 

the o is with me dont worry. i plan to put a plexi back on it and glue the center of the O back on. im having trouble on thinking how to light it, any suggestions would be fine.
might spray paint the plexi to give it a fog look that way the light distributes better still not sure!!!!

 

well.. i was wondering what was lighting them up in the pictures...

leds? perhaps something more low profile like an EL backing would be the two i'd choose from.

 

oh that was just my computer lights. not sure what an EL backing is, but ive been trying to use led just cant quite figurer it out. i just found something out though. the inside of the front scion symbol is about the same size as the outside of the rear symbol. it helps me out because from the back of the emblem now theres about a 1/16 inch gap. some space for wiring and there actually 2 holes behind the rear symbol for aligning pins.

 

EL stands for electro Luminecent(sp) check Mouser, Newark, Digikey or other large electronics distributors.

 

yeah.. they come in sheets you can custom cut as long as you follow certain rules

or strips, or most seen, wire.

 

i would sand the plexi a lil to ruff it up, the light would look better and a more evenly output

 

with EL... you don't need any plexi, fyi

EL Sheets are pretty pricey if your not mass-producing. I think oxidized plexiglass and leds are perfect and cheaper than EL backing.

Just to add you stole my idea! lol just kidding. I was really planning on working on the mod over the winter, I've been thinking about it alot, and drawing out plans. Can wait to see the end result of yours =)! keep us updated!

 

i figured i would hear that sooner or later.
