Default exhaust piping size

I was told that When I get my muffler put on, If I replace all the stock pipes to 2.25 I would get better performance and sound. Is this true? Always come here before making any decisions lol!

A LOT better sound... a little better performance... a little. It'll free up some horse on the back side, but you'll need a full I/H/E system to notice any performance boost. I put my exhaust on for the sound...

I'm getting ready to go 2 1/4 inch, and hopefully it won't be too much louder. I want a lower tone and may get another resonator also.
