Default Are there any carb legal intakes? exhaust? headers?

Ok, so I called my state police inspection office and asked some questions about the mods I want to do. So most things I can do but I cant touch the cat for 8 years. And the headers, intake must use all sensors and be carb legal. So from what I have gathered from various posts and all is that there is "no" intake out there that is carb legal other than stock.

If I am wrong please let me know. And on headers and exhausts too. Thanks.

First...CARB legal junk only applies to California (California Air Resources Board)...but your state most likely has its own laws and are probably nowhere as strict as California's. But, No tC intake is CARB legal yet, axleback exhausts are CARB legal...but not catbacks because they delete one of the catalytic converters...and no header is emission legal because it deletes the primary catalytic converter

well he said that if anytihng passes in cali, itd be ok here in maine, as long as it doesnt disable any of the senors that are supposed to be mounted on them. any ways if there are anything carb legal in cali for intake, id like very much to know where I can possibly get one. But maybe I will just install and take it to my inspection this april to see if it passes. I dont think it will void warrenty or anything.

If he says that if it's legal in cali, it'll be legal in Maine...well the only thing you can "legally" get is an axleback exhaust. With the header and intake, you will pass the actual emission test...but not the visual inspection...and again, no CAI for the tC is legal/exempt from emission laws yet...

If Maine does not use the CARB laws, you can get an intake, down-pipe and a cat-back exhaust legally installed. A test pipe to replace the catalytic is and always will be illegal

There will never be a street-legal header for the tC in any state due to the pre-cat that is welded into the OEM header.

TRD exhaust is CARB legal. It's just an axle-back. TRD intake is NOT CARB legal. They were blowing smoke up your @$$.

because when they pop the hood and see a product installed on you vehicle that does not meet CARB requirements and is not CARB legal / exempt...then they will fail you

i'm from ny, so i wouldn't really know, but i would assume the S/C is carb legal so as long as you don't add a header or intake with it.

but why are u wondering if you aren't from cali?

Up to '06 yes. '07 I don't know, it wasn't listed on the Sept. '06 CARB listings.
