hrm, k, I look into things way too much, but it has a pseudo california style plate on, or at least west coast. As far as I recall Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas all have 6 character plates..

The "Corolla Owner" would be me. Found it on Toyota Pressroom. Only photo released so far. Along with a new press release today.

"Scion, the new marque from Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., will stage the world premier of the Scion tC sports coupe at a press conference at the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Sales of the tC, designed specifically for the U.S. market, will begin in June 2004 and will coincide with the national launch of the Scion brand. The reveal will be held on Monday, Jan. 5 at the Riverfront Ballroom in COBO Center."

Hey, I just noticed something. Didn't they plan to keep that funky giant sunroof/moonroof design found on the ccx concept? Judging from this picture it seems to be either gone or an option. Hmm, just something to think about. Personally I think I'd like it as an option, because I woulnd't like it on MY car. Sounds like it would cost an arm and a leg to fix if/when it ever went wrong or someone threw a rock at it.

I didn't find this a corolla owner did.

1) Yes, the rear does resemble a maxima...but it may be due to the design of the rear lights...

2) The all glass roof will probably be not an option but standard. And if u see closely at the picture along the roof line and rear glass...the glass seems to continue forward in one seam ...the frame may be metal..but the rear glass seem to reflect a continuou flow onto the rooftop and possibly to the front windshield...i doubt it will be one-piece..but section glass (maybe a 3 piece) rear/top/front windshield.

3) Since the TC is based on the Toyota Avensis, i see the resemblence.

4) atleast we know it's not a hatchback or is it? can't tell from the pix

5) i can't wait to see it at the L.A. autoshow next month!

well..here's an excerpt from car connection article posted today...dec 01,03 about the new TC being based on the Toyota Avensis.

"Farley also fit in a quick outline of the upcoming tC coupe, Scion's third product, which will debut at Detroit and go on sale nearly a year later. Based on the Japan-market Toyota Avensis, he said that the tC would be especially distinctive as the only car on the market with a fully glass roof, an engineering feat to maintain the stiffness of a normal roof. The four-cylinder tC will offer a supercharger kit shortly after launch. Although price-wise it looks like people might cross-shop the tC with the Celica, he asserted that "꿻he Celica is more of a boy-racer; the tC is more of a 3-Series Coupe. We're not going to be in the same market."

so...we shall all find out soon.

i hope the car isn't a disappointment...but one thing for sure..the full glasstop will be coo.

The top picture is the scion tC. The bottom pic is the 2004 Saturn Ion coupe. It kinda does look similar I think. I still like the tC rear though. You all are saying it looks too "normal and boring". Sometimes that can be a good thing. If you think about it, the whole Toyota and Lexus line looks "normal", and thats not bad. It's when you start trying to hard (the whole damn saturn line) that you mess up. Just my thought :D [/img]

Ok, so even if the tC does have an all glass roof, atleast it doens't have the "Good but not very practical" one that the ccx had. You know, the one with like 25 pieces of glass that folded up... yeah just wait till it rains!

Pablo_xB

ok, so I was driving home from work and I remembered something!

Do you guys think (or know) the tC will have the "not very atractive" interior that the ccx concept had?

Milhamscion
12-08-2003, 06:42 PM
I imagine that the interior will be toned down a little for production models. It's already pretty obvious Scion changed the sheetmetal quite a bit from ccx to the tc. So I think we can expect a little more conventional interior too.

...I think the tC has already killed the celica... word I'm getting is that after 2005 the celica will be no more... hmmm?? a point to ponder....

I'm with you Verone I want one bad from everything I seen and heard all I can is I'm in. Also from what Farly says (Scion Vice pres I think that's his title) I don't know if toyota will stop production of the celica. Toyota trying hard to sell that the celica and the Tc will be tottaly different. In fact he calls the celica a "boy racer" and the Tc a "3 seris coupe" personally I think the Tc will have more in common with people who want an Is 300 but don't have 30 grand to spend than the celica buyers. Cause I think it will cost almost as much as a Gt maybe more. Myself that's why I'm onboard I still want a Is 300 but I don't quite have enough cake for that(hopefully soon) actually anyone who was at sema saw the Is 430 at the TRD booth. Now let me tell you I might actually comit murder to own that car. Glad there is only one, because if I saw one of those driving down the street... there might be so live action GTA going on  no just kidding but I might do just about anything else to have one of those I wish they would of let us drive that car

Also looks to me like someone chopped a couple inches off each side of a Honda Accord.

http://www.hondacars.com/images/banners/2004/accord_coupe/exterior_gallery/photo_09_large.jpg

The problem I see is.......every car that anyone has mentioned so far shares a resemblance to this tC pic. I don't think that a car should be so unique it alienates the entire human population........but at the same time not so mundane that it blends in with every other car on the road. That's why I like the xB. It's "weird" enough that people look at it and go "ooh".......but not so weird they look at it and go "eew"............though I'm sure some people have said "eew".
