Default XMRadio questions.

Regarding the XMRadio that we were given at HIN last night. I know some of you already have it installed. Before I break it open what kind of connection does it have for your stereo? The only thing I see on the back of the package is a tape adapter. Does it have an aux cable connection with the aux cable included?

Nope, you don't need to use the cassette adapter...! You just tune your FM receiver to a channel that the XM unit uses...For example, mine is set at 88.1...Plug the cigarrette adapter in and plug the XM satellite antenna up and your set...Just call the 1-800 XM number in the booklet and push ZERO to go to a live operator to register your product...

I'll be honest with you guys, I install these all day for a living... The XM wireless modulator is okay..you can get interferences/ bleed over from other radio stations. You can purchase an FM modulator that plugs into the back of the radio..that works awsome and has no issues with bleed over and sounds very good.. What units did you recieve?

This is what I recomend:

Comes with a cigarette lighter adapter, that can be tapped onto the power wires behind the radio so you dont have to use up your in car power plug.. Plus it gives you a nice clean look and good sound signal..

I would imagine, that when they gave you the new free unit and 3 months free they took down your name and the XM radio ID#. So you proably can only use it on the unit they gave you..but I could be wrong, since I wasnt there and dont know how things were done.

Chris I don't believe so because these units that we got were "prepaid" and they use the 8 digit number on the bottom of the package to activate it

Even with this, do you still loose sound quality? I know that with most FM modulators that you loose between 40 and 60% of the sound quality. If not, where would I get that setup at? Thanks!

I use the Fm modulator in my house accorss the living room and it actually worked pretty well. In my car, I ran the aux out to the aux in of my Pioneer screen.

It comes with 3 months of the complete premium service for three months. From what I gathered. it's the regulary $12.95 a monthy after that, but I argued and I think I got it for free? I didn't have to pay anything or use a credit card and it's all working. The guy on the phone said Scion took care of everything so I guess I'll have to see what will follow after the next 90 days.

You will lose some sound quality.. The sound quality is compariable to the best sounding radio station you can pick up on FM, so it usally sounds pretty good.. The only way to get the true digital sound quality is to buy a XM ready stereo and add a direct link tuner to it.. But for $32 the modulator gets the job done.

Alright guys, go to Circuit City and go to the car audio department. Tell them you need a TOYO adaptor that goes from RCA to the CD changer input on the back of the deck. Then you will need to get the cable that is RCA audio (red and white RCA ends) to 3.5mm, same size as head phone plugin.

Then

1 - Plug 3.5mm end into the side of the roady xt dock
2 - Plug the red and white RCA ends into the TOYO box that you got from circuit city
3 - Plug the cable that comes with the TOYO box into the box, and then into the back of the deck in the CD changer port, it will only fit one place=)

This will also allow you to turn the volume on the unit from a max of 5 to a max of 10, and plus the sound quality is much much better than that FM ____!

Hope this helps!!!
