Your electronics are grounded from the factory. The car wouldn't run without a ground.

The aftermarket kits are a scam and waste.

*nod* I don't recommend buying grounding kits. Just make your own, or better yet...don't even install one. It's snake oil!

its only a scam if the mfg. claims more horsepower. I claim smoother idle.

Grounding kits are a waste. Ask anyone who's does anything related to car electronics for longer than 10 minutes. The reason it works (a little) in some older kits is that over time corrosion and oxygenation of the wire reduces contact. Replacing the wiring can help re-establish that voltage you may have dropped. But it will not do ANYTHING - change you idle, give you more power, make your **** bigger, anything that these vendors are claiming, to a new car. Even in the harshest of enviroments (salt, humidity, etc). you won't see a detrimental difference for a good 5 years or so.

I can back this up with legitimate multimeter readings of a before / after in my old 1991 Eagle Talon AWD that I changed out all the factory wiring in. The difference was marginal, at best. I went from 14.2(ish) volts on my starter and ground to 14.3(ish). I did it more to have all the same wiring throughout the car.

Now if you want to get this kit to dress up your engine bay, hey, whatever creams your twinkie. But don't think it'll do jack squat for your car. Trust me. A spend all day in cars with a multimeter doing ____ like this.
