Default glowing headlights

Do you want the lights to glow red with the headlights on or off. To make them glow red with the headlights off is easy. Simply install high output red leds into the holes beside the headlight bulbs. This will give a nice glow when the sun goes down. I used green, but have gotten some nice red ones to try. To make the lights glow red with the headlights on may draw the ire of the local law. But you might try a red overlay as an option.

I want kind of a red glow from the headlights... I think the cops around here would go a-wall over it... But is there such a thing?

sounds to me like a very good way to get an "invite" to participate in the police retirement fund...
the law.. both state and federal,, state very clearly that headlight shall be white/clear. the blue tint you see on some light systems is actually a very white white.
also only colors showing to the front of a veh. shall be orange/yelllow/amber for use as turn signals and "Fog" lighting.

it might look _____in.... but it ain't worth the legal hassles, not to mention the financial ones..

just my 1.75 cents worth

You don't want one of those "impersonating a cop" tickets for sure. If you want a red light for while you are parked just throw a red short cold cathod in each housing through the headlight bulb opening.

why would you want red headlights? you wont be able to see anything at night. makes no sense to me.

White or yellow are the best thing sfor driving at night. if your gonna switch them out for shows and what not, see if Luminez (spelling? help!) has them. they have colored bulbs

I would want redlights because they would look good... Makes sense to me!! I am not going to get them because I talked with my uncle that is a sherrif and he said that the fine alone for impersonating a cop is around $500 and that would suck as far as mod money was concerned!!

Thanks guys... And I am not being rude firesquare, I was just stating my opinion...

Red and blue lights are illegal here in FL, they are reserved for emergency vehicles only. I'd imagine all states have similar laws.

Yeah, red lights would be begging for unwanted attention.

Some areas are easier than others. But yeah, you'd be getting the wrong kind of attention from the boys in blue for sure.

Enforcement does vary considerably by location, but I have a hard time imagining getting away with that anywhere.

It's kinda funny where I live. I put some small blue leds in my Ranger grill and got pulled over almost right away and removed them. But I see lots of cars riding around constantly with the red and blue led squirter nozzles and they NEVER get pulled over. Go figure. Dumb hick cops!

I've seen a few people driving around here in Dallas with the red headlights. It's just a red tint not totally red like taillights. Around here the cops are very lenient and don't seem to mind. The only ones I have found were on e-bay but they were not H4's. If there is some kind of headlight bulb converter you could try those.

EDIT: Here are the lights on e-bay. It says they are 100% DOT approved.

this kinda reminds me of knight rider, when that show came out everyone with a trans-am (or firebird) wanted to have that moving front red light. I know it couldn't be sold, for this very same reason, so I think they only color they did sell it in was yellow... (If memory serves me right)

^ Yeah a buddy of mine has the knight rider hood on his car. He could only get the yellow like you said, but he changed it to red and hasn't been pulled over yet.

if that ebay ad is what u meant to send it's wrong. or it's typo'd. cause 6000k temp rating is white with blue tint NOT red.

bulldog, have you thought about doing red coverlays over the lens instead of red light bulbs?

Decalkits.com carries overlays, they do have red but don't know if they do for the headlights...They have the red film though if you want to cut it yourself...
