Default The Dealership called...

Well, to begin, I ordered my Flint Mica '07 Scion tC around September 23rd -- I had customized and stacked some accessories on it as well, but even after I had left the dealership, I had begun to get antsy. (That's where this forum came in! I've been browsing and reading up ever since) The salesperson that's selling me the car is coincidentally one of my old friends from high school and he called me up today to let me know that instead of waiting 2 more weeks for the car I had ordered(which was the latest ETA according to him), a Toyota dealership nearby had a Black Sand Pearl '07 with all the features I wanted and the side curtain airbags (which my father had wanted me to get in the first place).

The accessories I had requested to get added were:

His manager had told him that they can get the car delivered to the dealership by tommorrow. I'm going to check it out and if it's legit, then I'll determine whether I'm sold or not. I had been seeing way too many Flint Micas to begin with and Black Sand Pearl would've been my second choice. And I'm tired of waiting for my fricken' car.

So, not a bad deal, right?

I'll fill you guys in tommorrow if everything comes together perfectly.

I would definitely get that man, BSP is a good look. I'm a big fan of NBM myself, but I think that you should hit that deal.

          Thanks for the input, guys!

And yeah, everything in my car will be upgraded at one point in time or another, even the system. But I'm going to need some time in order to get the money to do so, so all the features that I've added will hold me over in the meantime.

The only gripe I have is that I had ordered a Flint Mica, and that's probably one of the sweetest colors I've seen it in. Nautical Blue is pretty hot too, and I was even thinking about getting a Black Cherry. You can't go wrong with the BSP, I say... but it's definitely a far cry from the Flint Mica.

My pop's is giving me a little ____ for switching up the color, because he loves the Flint Mica, but I had to break it down to him that everyone and their dog has the tC in that color. The only other gripe I have is that one of my distant friends, whom I don't see very much, but will see inevitably at one point in time or another, has a Black tC himself. I'm not in any way or means trying to bite off him, I'm just trying to get my whip and be happy with life.

If the dealer can't get the BSP tommorrow, I think I'm just going to settle with waiting a few more weeks for my Flint Mica. I don't know... ever since I started eyeing up the BSPs, I've been feeling them a lot more...

dont settle for anything less than what you want, trust me you will regret it

I agree on being patient. When I test drove one ("just for fun" wasnt looking to really buy a car ) in oct 04, I decided the next day to get one. I told them I wanted an IIP 5 spd, and didnt care how long I had to wait. I recieved it in about a month if I remember correctly. It was much worth the wait to get exactly the car I wanted. I figure if I am going to spend around 20k out the door to buy a new car, I may as well be patient and get the one I want. I am still very happy with it.

I thought it was against the rules to steer a customer to another car that they could get to the dealership quicker. Part of the pure price no pressure thing.

I was in the same boat, but I was inbetween the bsp and fm. I liked the fm, but every tC I see on the road around here is a fm. I called a few dealerships and they said it would be between 8-12 weeks before any of them could get one. I went with black and couldn't be happier.

Yeah, they sell enough of them that they shouldnt pressure anyone. I had a really nice sales person (Kelly at Rudy Luther.. now in Washington State last time I heard) so she was cool about it. I was out looking at one and she showed up with a plate and a key, let me drive it until she was closing down for the day (about 45 minutes). After that I was pretty sure about it!

and if i were you, i wouldn't get those upgrades, they are too costly through the dealer. you can get a much better alarm/remote start for a lot cheaper, the wheels can be had extremely cheap (i got mine for $700 used w/falkens) and the stock sub isn't all that great. much better stuff can be had for the money, just a heads up in case you want to reconsider!

Yeah, there are more FM's than any other colorsn out there. But FM was what I wanted, and it's a kicka$$ color.

          Cheese and rice.

I think my friend at the dealership is beginning to, or has been, pulling my leg all this time. First, he said that the Scions were manufactured in Kentucky. WRONG. From what I've read on this forum, Camrys or Corollas (one of the two) are manufactured in Kentucky and the Scions are built in Japan and shipped overseas.

But needless to say, had I known that the dealership received all the accessories and added them after the car had arrived on the lot, I would've shopped around at various Toyota/Scion dealerships until I found a tC that I liked. I would've subsequently ordered the parts from Scion and had them install the pieces.

So, I will be heading over to the dealership personally to sift through a bunch of issues and possibly sign some papers (even though they have been dicking me over and feeding me some very false information). The black Scion tC that they had at the other dealership did not even have the accessories installed -- as a matter of fact, the pieces are still enroute (supposedly) for delivery.

Pedestal Spoiler stays. No questions asked.

So, wish me luck, give me some input and have a great day, guys.

The worst feeling in the world is to be driving a car that you really didn't want, and have to pay for it month in/month out. Get what you want. You'll be happier at the end of the day

BTW, Nautical Blue is the shizznibbles.

Wow.. someone at the dealer told you they were made in the US? It is pretty common knowledge it is made in Japan.

Again, get the car you want the first time. You will be happier... and personally I have to say IIP is the shiznit.. they just dont make em any more

I think she works at Scion of Burien. I should've gone there but the dealership I went to is on my way to work everyday so it makes future maintenance and/or problems easy cheesy as opposed to Burien which is quite the other way for me.

The part where you say you want to upgrade and keep both sets of rims, you know they're supposed to do that anyway? Also, are you planning on doing your future mods yourself? This would be the best time to start, by NOT buying accesories and paying the dealer their what, $60+/hr install rates. Start it here and now, and you will learn a lot more about your car and save money at the same time. Buy it bone stock...
