Default Loving the xB

Husband and I where looking into getting a new car after his Mazda was totaled out. I looked online for the Scions and it was everything we wanted or needed in a car. I was wondering with the xB owners in this group, if it is normal to go over board when shopping for the xB? Hubby marched all 3 kids there and had them sit in the back(LOL), then we test drove it , then looked at stuff for it. Can't wait to get the xB, and hope to show off Pix like the proud xB owners I know we will be. Dave and Kelly.... Dover DE

Not abnormal at all. Good luck with the purchase.

Sounds smart to me. When I'm spending that much cash I want to make sure it's going to do what I need it to do. Good luck!

I bet the kids love it having such a big boxy car. My fiances neices and nephews always say ... "ooh, are we going to ride in uncle wilson's box car?" makes me smile all the time ;)

Yeah, it's perfectly normal to go overboard. The xB is one of those odd cars you either like or don't like, and if you like it, things get a little weird.

When looking at those "extras" keep in mind that your local dealer is NOT the least expensive place to get most of 'em, and financing them with the car puts all those finance charges on 'em.

If they are things you can add to the vehicle yourself, getting them from some of the discount dealers on-line is something to consider. If you need your dealer to install them, you can still save money by buying the car, then buying the extras for cash from your dealer. (Those posted prices include installation.)

When you get your xB, you'll find out one more thing about owning an xB that you can't quite get from just test driving one: They're one heck of a lot of FUN to drive. Many other cars are just a tool you have to use - one actually looks forward to driving a box.

For such a tiny car (it is, really) it has a whole lot of space inside. Since it is a transportation device, and seems to be bigger inside than outside, it's a lot like Dr. Who's Tardis... :D

So what if mine looks like a tipped over fridge?

Enjoy!

x2!!

It is a lot of fun to drive. I'm always making excuses for going somewhere...just because. And the modding bug will bite you. Guaranteed! Personalizing the box is a fun hobby.

Great mileage, lots of room, handles like a go kart, did I mention fun to drive? Do it, you will not be disappointed!

Welcome.
You think it's bad now. Wait till you get it home.
It's Sunday evening. The family is watching a movie. ("Click")
And I'm reading posts on the Scion website.

Most new owners say--I am not going to do any mods--well maybe new rims. These become famous last words and the owners begin putting things on their cars and going to shows and---well it is all sort of downhill from there. The xB is a great car for both fun factor and practicality. Good luck to you--and let us know the progress.

You did tell him the "cube" is a Nissan vehicle right.

I agree, these things are contagious. I teach high school and now half of my students want it for their first car, mind you I have only had the box for a week. There are at least three students in talks with their parents.... My teacher has one, so it must be a good idea....

My husband is eyeing my xB now...

I'm not so sure if this is a good place to ask about what's normal when it comes to xBs... I think we're all a little nuts around here.

btw - to expand a bit on what Tomas said about buying options from cheaper folks than your dealer, you might want to check out scionpartspeople or trdsparks. Trdsparks will likely be cheaper on shipping because they're a lot closer to you.

Don't do it!!! If you're like me you will buy it and then become obsessed with it. Today a woman made a passing comment about my xB and I then talked for five minutes about it. I spend the time I should be studying checking scionlife for modding ideas. Seriously though, it is the greatest car. I can't imagine owning anything else. You won't be disappointed. I'm actually trying to talk my mom into buying one, if that says anything.

SEE--this poor man has been possessed by his box. He (like many of us) needs professional help.

Uh... A good friend of mine is a pshrink with many years experience - and she is just all ooohs and aaahs about my xB, and really seriously wants one.

I'm not sure even professional help would help...
