View Full Version : Anyone dyno a 2007 tC yet?
VitViper 10-25-2006, 02:44 AM I want to see what all the noise is all about... plus I picked up an '07 tC today :-D So far I'm quite happy with the decision.
Noob question... anyone make intakes for 07 tC's? Not some stupid eBay junk, I'm looking for something that sounds good and performs. Injen? AEM?
Tcguy85 10-25-2006, 02:46 AM injen intakes are out for the 07. i made a thread a few days ago looking for 07 dyno charts/vids and got no answers yet so idk.
glad you like your new car. what color did ya get?
VitViper 10-25-2006, 02:49 AM The dark metallic blue:

And my pos boosted ZX2:

I would love to get some info on the 07's... maybe I'll take it to Portland and get a pull done...
edit: wow those are big
Tcguy85 10-25-2006, 02:58 AM you mean the nautical blue? can't really tell from the pic.
VitViper 10-25-2006, 03:00 AM edit: argh not that blue, same color as the one in your profile; fancy names for shades of blue are just... argh
Tcguy85 10-25-2006, 03:03 AM yea my other choice other than the flint mica would have been the nautical blue. it's a cool color.
CuRiOuSfIsH 10-25-2006, 03:03 AM just curious, what is the noise youre talking about?

You've got me all confused on the colors... how about I just take some real pics tomorrow LoL. But it's the darker blue... (i edited my previous reply)
Tcguy85 10-25-2006, 03:06 AM i'm pretty sure there is only one blue for 07.
VitViper 10-25-2006, 03:06 AM just curious, what is the noise youre talking about?
The noise in differences of power output. The tC in bone stock form feels about as quick as my ZX2 was N/A (i/h/e/custom ECU tune [by me], generally run in the 14.9~15.1 area depending on driver) before I boosted it.
VitViper 10-25-2006, 03:08 AM i'm pretty sure there is only one blue for 07.
Now you're gonna have me digging through my paperwork to get the "official" name for the color lol
VitViper 10-25-2006, 03:13 AM You were right... nautical blue... Don't mind me, I'm running on 4-5 hours of sleep and a long day

no problem man. i know what you mean about how quick the car feels as well. some people like to say the tc is slow but i think it's got pretty good power for what it is. maybe the 07 is a bit quicker than the prior years if people are saying thiers are slow. i've actually had 2 different people ride in my car that have been in an 05 or 06 tc and they said mine has quite a bit more power than they remember.
i can't wait to get some money together to start adding some goodies to her. :)

It's not a slow car at all... I was pleasently surprised :-D And the injen intake is the first thing to go on it, I can't stand the motor sounding like it's crying as I rev it up with the stock airbox lol

yea i was actually suprised how good the car sounds stock once you get her revving. but the intake is one of the first things i wanna do, i love the sound cars have with cold air intakes buti've never had one so i can't wait for that.
i think the first thing will be the ingalls engine damper though. but i also want to do hotchkiss springs, sway bars(at least the rear), a short shifter, CF front lip, smoke my tail lights and lights on the mirrors, tint my windows, the CAI, and eventually do exhaust. lots of plans but so little money.
kungpaosamuraiii 10-25-2006, 06:29 AM You know, the tC feels pretty quick because it's geared shortly and makes the bulk of its torque in a lump in the middle of the RPM band. But they're only as quick as a 15.2 in stock form. And that's a very good run.

From driving mine it feels like it's got a solid powerband all the way up to redline... that's not bad at all IMO. And I was assuming mid to low 15's with a decent driver.
TongMan 10-25-2006, 11:56 PM the '07 tC dynoed at 149 whp and 153 lbs torque from Import Tuner.

Anyone have that article? A dyno chart would be awesome to see.

I still dont see how that is! Did Toyota under rate the car? I think thats only about a 8% drivetrain loss.
So far, there is no 07 MY dyno..... but in another thread, there was a discussion on how that power is used and at what engine speed. ANd there was 1 fellow that went to test drive a 07 while still owning a 06 and he said 07 was faster..... so we'll know sometime.
As for the tC feeling faster than your Ford, thats possible. Short gearing and big torque down in the rev range can do that to ppl.

I have NEVER seen a tC do 15.2 stock. They run out of steam in the upper rpms and run high 15's stock. They are not quick....peppy? yes.

Not faster, but almost as quick as my ZX2 was before the boost ;)
but I guess I'll go to portland on saturday and dyno mine... should have about 300 miles on it by then
malibuboy54 10-26-2006, 04:10 AM so why would the 07 tc be any faster than the 06 tc...i don't think anything has changed dramatically besides the model year.....i'm sure the dyno numbers will be similiar, and also one dyno doesn't mean your car runs like that....its all dependent on conditions, etc...yadda yadda yadda
CuRiOuSfIsH 10-26-2006, 04:29 AM well, I dont think anyone is sure yet unless they did a side by side drag race w/ a stock 06 and stock 07 tC. They rated the car 1 BHP more but at a higher RPM, and no one is sure if that power hangs around or drops off drastically. Also, the fuel cut has been lifted to 6500RPM which could mean when shifting up, the car may be more into the powerband.
chazm 10-26-2006, 01:48 PM If you dyno your car at 300 miles you are wasting your money.
I took my G to the track at 800 miles and could not run any better than a 14.7, my 60ft times were 2.2 which is about normal and my shifts were great. I went back about 1.5 months later when i had over 2k miles. The weather was about the same, probably hotter, and with the same 60ft times and ran a 14.3 all night.
Let your car break in.
DouBLeJ16 10-26-2006, 02:16 PM 15.2 stock sounds a little too good to be true.. For about a year the best time I saw was a 15.5, then I believe 1 person ran a 15.4 in perfect track conditions on slightly better tires.
Now, with I/H/E/P it should run a high 14 @ ~92mph

Aye, will do so then captain.

Well I don't keep track of the fastest times so I just went conservative. I meant a stock tC shouldn't ever pass 15.2.
But yea, agree with you 100%.
Crayola_G 10-26-2006, 09:45 PM trd spark has an injen CAI for the 07
chazm 10-26-2006, 09:50 PM ^conservative? I think it was a little liberal. :)
Crayola_G 10-26-2006, 10:28 PM rather..
WhitetC21 11-29-2006, 10:25 PM My 07 dynoed at 146whp 151 ft/tq....and only has 1000 miles on it, I'm hoping it'll break in some more and the numbers go up very slightly. I'm stock btw as far as performance for now.
VitViper 11-29-2006, 11:07 PM Mind posting a dyno sheet or sending me the dyno run file?
ncc-1701k 11-30-2006, 01:11 AM that's really high for whp, maybe its the gearing? cuz the EPA mileage for 07 are 23/31 for manuals , 1/2 up from 22/29 of 06's. toyota must've messed with the gearings a little bit and tweaked the final drive ratio.
Or is it because the new intake system? it think it was way different tha 06's.

2007 AUTO tC Injen CAI only
jsg93085 11-30-2006, 01:52 AM ouch... either the automagic tranny is killing the numbers or the higher compression ratio in the 07 is making less hp and tq....
dyno of my 06 FM 5spd stock

Uh... 05-06 Autos are only doing 122~126whp SAE or so.
jsg93085 11-30-2006, 01:59 AM true, but bkuhl's sheet is STD not SAE, so it could still be the same numbers...

I have his dyno file... it's 129whp/124wtq SAE. Still higher than 90% of the auto dynos i've seen.
