Great to see another "older" xB owner in here (I'm 44). Had my box a little over a month now, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Just ordered personalized plates for it today, that read "BXMEBXU". Long story short, I was watching "Scarface" on TV a while ago, and of course it was heavily edited. So instead of having them say "F*ck me? F*ck you!", it came out as "Thank me? Thank you!". So I figured "Box me? Box you!" would be appropriate. "HIP2BSQ" (hip to be square) was already taken, so I settled on the box me box you one.
Congrats on the purchase. You'll enjoy driving it...

I'm an old fart myself and love my xB. In my neighborhood, guys my age are supposed to get a used Merc, BMW, Lexus, or Volvo. Not me---never been that way! I like fresh new ideas such as the Scion line.
You're only as old as you think.

Don't worry you're not alone. I got my xB last week. I'm up in Oxford in the heart of "Big 3" country. There's only 4 others that I know of. A couple that work in Troy, one in Walled Lake and one on the east side. I'm sure there's more, just haven't seen them or heard from them on here. I saw a TCM at work downtown a couple weeks ago. Had a nice little crowd around it checking it out.

Looks like I'm the oldest one, so far! I'm 61 and love my box. I've had it about six months now. My other vehicles are an Acura RSX and a Volvo S70-T5. I'm an SCCA official and have been working sports car races for almost 25 years.

Congrats on getting an Xb, good to see older people driving them to.
Yesterday on the freeway in California, an elderly gentleman cruising his xB next to my PT Cruiser. I thought it ironic that he was in the car aimed at the youngins and I was in a car targeted for people his age. Just goes to show that all the market research is largely B.S. People will like what they like. Before I get flamed by any marketing folks - my degree is in marketing - I wanted to go into advertising. (It's not lying, it's called "puffery." - yeah, right.) I'd wager that the marketers didn't realize that the folks currently occupying the 50+ age demographic have some nonconformists that were the flowerchildren of the 1960's.
I like the xB and am waiting until I relocate my family from CA (hopefully next month). After we settle, I'll get an xB. Don't know if I'll keep the PT or not... Would be kind of cool to have two unique cars, but I only need one and don't have the room for a third vehicle...

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Now if I could just get my Xb away from my wife I might be able to play with it.Being older's no big deal it just means you can afford all the "bling"but are smart enough to know you can't get it back on resale. My other toys are a VFR sportbike& a new scooter I take to the party store.

PartyStore..HA HA Have not heard that term in a long time. Left Michigan 15 years ago.. Nothing like a place you could get Liqour, a keg and a 6ft sub to go..

I'm an AARPer myself and amazed that this is called a youngster's car. I traded in my Lexus ES for an xB because it just made more sense. It's all the car I really need and the utility and price are fantastic!
I've read this forum for weeks and heard the complaints about lack of power, harsh ride etc. but I think Toyota got it right! In fact I plan to keep my xB stock with the exception of a little interior bling. Maybe some people are so focused on what it doesn't do, that they forget what it does do ---and pretty darn well too! And I love the fresh, eye catching design.

You are clealry not alone in being over 50 and driving an XB. I am 53 and I too bought an XB. I get plenty of looks. I am a psychologist and I have NY Psychologist license plates which have always made people want to check out who I was. Now, I get twice as many looks as more people catch up to see who I am.

Good idea, Garry, for the Old Farts Forum. If I were 30 years younger I believe the xB would improve my scorecard with the chicks. I've noticed it catches the eyes of the coed types around my town.

If you're a Doors fan, 21Cbox might be a good plate. "She's a 21st century box".
My plate was just stock. Pulled from the shelf at the department. "AOKO1" or in swahili "Aoko" means outside. In Japaneese it means either "the condition of the surface of the water'..or pond scum. Of couse getting a stock plate that says something pulled randomly from the license dept just blew all my luck on ever winning a lotto.

Have you all gone mad!!! You have broken the unwritten golden supreme rule!! As was once stated on this forum "I hope a lot of older folks won't buy this car so it doesn't lose its coolness". Now you all have screwed everything up telling you ages. What's next, giving Trix cereal to rabbits?

That's just it. You don't stop being "cool" just because you're past 30. That's an illusion of youth. And somebody give that darn rabbit some Trix already! After all, he's a bigger fan than the kids!

PS: I have a question...When you guys see other "Young" Xb, Xa or TC Drivers do you wave to them or do you just keep on going. The reason for my question is that I have seen a couple of Xb's driven by "older" people and whenever I wave my hand or flash my lights they look at me like I am an Alien or just a "Young" punk!...Just wondering... :D

I bought my XB almost two weeks ago and when my dad saw it, he immediately said he wanted one. It took me five days to sell his Toyota Tacoma and we'll be heading to Putnam Toyota this afternoon to pick up his camofauge XB. BTW he'll be 67 years old next month. I will update when he actually gets his.

As for sightings, I wave , honk or even stop if I see a xB parked somwhere.
Most owners honk and point back. Others just look at me with a blank look. To them it is just a car and not a statement

The remark about clowns coming out of the XB was in a local newspaper article on the top 12 cars of the year- the xb was in the list. I am on Long Island and I do not seem to pass any XB's on the road. I am old and I would defintely wave.
I was at two parties this weekend and my friends all wanted to ride in the XB. I took them out and they loved it. The wives made no comment about the car when my wife took them for a ride. They just didn't seem to get it!

I tend toward neo-Ludditism and have never gotten real excited about a car. (The last car I purchased that I really liked was my 1950 Buick that I bought in 1976.) This is the first car I have owned with a pushbutton thingy attached to the keyring. When the sweet young waif who sold me the car handed me those, I said. "Now I'm yuppie scum."
I am meeting neighbors, young and old, who never said a word to me before, because of this car. I bought it to replace a 15 passenger Ford van, because I am an old fart. I wanted a vehicle that could carry the cargo I needed to for our ministry among the homeless, but not so large that I could move a freezer. I'm too old to be moving freezers and couches and plywood and such. Let the young bucks do that!
I measured the space behind the back seat by cubits and hands to make sure my Cambro containers and Igloo coolers would fit, then I bought it. I bought it for sound, practical reasons.
Now I find myself on an internet car forum?! I am debadging it and dressing it up?!
Maybe this is my mid-life crisis car after all. :?
