View Full Version : Anyone go to the Seattle Auto Show?
ArtB_tC 10-31-2006, 06:15 AM I went this past weekend. Scion had an ok booth. xA, xB, and two tC's. One of the tC's was heavily modded. It had big subs on either side of the trunk, with a space in the middle where they had mounted one of those mini crotch rocket bikes. Silly.
It had a carbon fiber hood, and a ton of stickers on the side, as though it was packed with aftermarket parts, but the people running the booth refused to pop the hood. :loser:
BUT, when I showed them the car key in my pocket, they gave me the good swag from under the counter: a Scion ski cap.
Other than that a pretty boring show. I just don't get into looking at Dodges, Fords and Hummers. I had to stop and drool over the Ferrari F430 and Lotus Elises, though.
Song0330 10-31-2006, 08:03 AM Hmm...big subs on either side and a crotch rocket in the middle. You mean this one?:

I took those pics at HIN 2005. Did they mod it any more?
Infamous425 10-31-2006, 04:52 PM i went. only wanted to check out my next car... 2007 inifiniti G35. unfortunately i will have to sell my xB to get it but that is a sacrifice i will have to make!
nwscionman 10-31-2006, 05:37 PM I was there twice, there was a charity dinner to benefit Jr Achievement on Wed, we were able to meet Ace Young (American Idol), he sang two sets... both had the same songs oddly... I thought some of the concept vehicles Ford had were pretty interesting, the Chev concept truck was pretty cool, the Dodge concept was a bit out there... the pasta rockets were nice... Austin Martin has some nice stuff as well. The new ZO6 vette looks capable... I was hoping Chev would have the new Camaro but it didn't happen..
mocascion 10-31-2006, 08:03 PM Mo & I went on Sunday.
While the Baby Blue Bentley Continental GTC is my dream car...I'd have to sell my house and all our cars to buy it.

I thought the new Chevy truck was too radical and in my opinion "fugly". I would never buy it and I don't think many will. The Chevy models, in my opinion, have lost their sales edge to young suburban buyers. They hold hard to satisfying the "red states" and the new truck won't do well there. In the end they won't be able to bounce into new demographics after the boomers start dying off. I like to people watch and all of the Chevy interest was by middle-aged white males from lower socio-economic classes all hoovering around the Corvette.
The Nissans didn't impress me because they styling is pretty much the same. They did include some of the nice Infiniti features into the new Sentra. The Versa isn't as cute as the Yaris or xA. And I'm sad about the Quest redesign (I miss the panoramic sunroof and 2 rows of DVDs).
The Mercury Mariner was a favorite of Mo's. I am upset about the new Navigator styling (I almost bought one but went with the xB back in '05). Also...Mo & I almost pre-purchased the Mark LT before it came out a couple of years ago and I'm glad we didn't get it because it is not functional or luxurious. It misses the "mark" I guess one could say.

Toyotas were great. Unlike the GM area the displays here were PACKED with people. Mo & I are ANXIOUSLY AWAITING the new Tundra. I want to WATTORA that bad boy! Looking forward to the 4 door...STEVE hook us up! Its either that or the Highlander Hybrid once the redesign comes out. The Yaris is cute (loved Nam's the other day at the M&G) but I think the xA is cuter.

Mo & I also liked the color of the RS4. Its not as bad as people say. But its also pretty flat overall for the prism paint it was touted to be. I would rather have an RS2 or an RS tC or xA over this probably.
I was not happy with the treatment we received from the reps there (which looked like the guys from Michael's) because they didn't care about the brand and really were off-putting, snobby, and rather rude.

The PW tC was there and I don't know what's so special about it (other than the pocket bike). It has a lot of cracks and fiberglass issues in its enclosures.

The new BMW 3 Series Coupe was a disappointment for Mo. Mo & I enjoyed the Lexus' and Acura's. My favorite was the new LS with all of the buttons and comfort treats! Massaging chairs, rear side impact air bags, heated & cooled front & rear seats, electronic auto shades, and a mini-fridge in the back!!!
ArtB_tC 10-31-2006, 08:05 PM Song, that's the one!
It looks like it hasn't changed a bit.
Thanks for posting the pics. They look better than the ones I took.
kkawana 10-31-2006, 08:08 PM just me or did that RS ID 'badge" look more like a foil sticker instead of a true "badge" or plauqe used on tropheys?
Importspeed 10-31-2006, 08:17 PM was going to go but i got sick
but really sucked is why didnt the guy let you look under the hood???? its not like you going to steal anything LOL

mocascion 10-31-2006, 08:18 PM Yeah...it was more "sticker-like"
Infamous425 10-31-2006, 08:32 PM oh and thanks to the pretty lady who showed us how on star works in the chevy tahoe :silly:

zinker 11-01-2006, 01:08 AM any pics of the RS 4 taILLIGHTS
mocascion 11-01-2006, 01:17 AM The taillights were the same TYC model that they already sell. They're the same as my current taillights.
zinker 11-01-2006, 01:19 AM mine too then and the same as on Scion.com Just wondering becasue they state colortuned taillights
mocascion 11-01-2006, 01:24 AM I know that they had a colorful cupholder lights that rotate through a spectrum. It was nice but then I remembered that I never use the ones I have in my box...and it took like 6 to 8 clicks just to cycle it back to 'off'. I'm too impatient
zinker 11-01-2006, 01:31 AM ^^ haha I always forget tio turn mine on So I hardwired em lol
hotbox05 11-08-2006, 10:55 PM that is my buddie's silver tc :)
JSM1284 11-09-2006, 07:18 PM The RS4.0 tailights are color tuned, Where the regular TYC have black trimming, the new ones are the color of the car, Its a little difficult to see on scions website.
