manual owners, do you skip 4th?
i find myself going through 1-3 up to 60 then just puttin it in 5th and bypassing 4th. i only do that when im ansy or annoyed or just f'in around, but i useualy ham on it till 60 then chill.. anyone else?
You know what I do the exact same thing. Ill take it up to 3rd and once im going 45, 50, 60 mph ill totally skip 4th and got straight to 5th. Well I hope its not a bad thing cuz i tend to do it a lot lately lol.
no way is it bad! its not doing anything wrong, you can take 3rd up to like almost 60 before redline'n... and you can cruise at 35 in 4th w/ no problems.. its totaly harmless, well, it eats more gas, but yeah, its harmless.. and yes, its a manual (like i said in the topic LOL)

Sometimes I skip 1st, 3rd, and 4th.
I used to have an old chevy with a 2 speed auto, so I'm not doing anything unprecedented.
My next car WILL be below 3000 rpm at 80mph.
I'll skip gears if accelerating hard, sure.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with block shifting, I think you all are just paranoid
.
A manual transmission was made for the driver to shift the gears, well, manually. They're only in order because that makes sense - not because you always have to shift sequentially

As long as you arent excessively revving or lugging the car you are fine. You will burn more fuel this way though since you will spend more time in the lower gears. I just use all 5 gears
Well, let's say you need extra acceleration when, for example, merging onto a highway. So you hit maybe 60 in 3rd, but plan to basically just drive at 60. In this case, you might as well just skip 4th and go straight to 5th, since no further acceleration is required.
