which wheel for track?

I want rims for track (and daily driving). I am thinking of going back down to 17s, I have 18" x 8.5" Enkeis now.
I want the lightest weight possible (gram lights?) and the most rubber on the road. Maybe 17 x 8.5? I would like to get a 235 onto my car at least. I don't mind rolling the fenders, but I'm not doing a widebody kit (I'd thrash it the first day at the track).
I'd like suggestions -- money is not important, I want the absolute best, lightest rim/tire combo for maximum speed.
opinions, please...

gram lights arent really that light to be honest.
if money is no concern i would go with a Volk CE28N 17x8 with a 44-48 offset, this will give you more than enough roof to fit a 245/40.. which is plenty for a track day.
i believe the volk weighs in at 13-14lbs for a 17inch wheel.

If money is an issue, go for the Motegi Traklites.
check them out:

They're not pretty though.

another good one, thanks! Definitely lightweight. Kinda makes me wish I was doing a flat or matte black car, that would be an awesome stealth project.

I ordered the CE28N rims, thanks again for the links. I'll get them in oh maybe two months (cough cough).
I'm looking at Falken 615's and the Yokohama A046 (stock EVO tires), though they are pricey.
Probably go with 235/40's

i ordered some rims as well today.. i wanna keep it a secret tho
they are 17x8 with a +45 offset, should sit pretty flush. i am gonna run a 245/40 tire on their, only a .4 difference with the speedo so im good to go, plus the wheels are hella light!!
i cant wait!!
i would suggest you get a 245 too

The CE 28 lists for over $600 each, I got a pretty good deal (considering the list) from www.VividRacing.com -- GREAT service too and they are knowledgable. figure about $2k or so.

you guys are totally missing one of the best wheels you can buy. If you go auto-crossing, it's what all the big boys are running, they're even lighter than Volks.
SSR Competitions. about $400/wheel at tire rack. A majority of the people who autocross and can afford it have these wheels on their cars. my 18x8's are 14.6lbs/each. beat that in an 18" without going to magnesium, I dare ya. A 15" wheel weighs 9lbs, all the Lotus/Mini drivers are running them.
*shameless plug* I've actually got a set for sale that comes with a set of tires (2 sets actually) that would be perfect in autocross (know from experience) and still be able to keep you in the STS/STX/STU categories.

you must not forget to check out Konig Helim. The best bang for the bucks. At only slightly above $100/ea for 17 in it's certainly a steal.

Konig Helium's are all 4x100's, so us TC peeps are out of luck there, but the ones they do make are pretty nice, and good for auto-X'ing, but nowhere near strong enough for daily driving with all the potholes we have around here.....
