Default Whats your opinion?

A couple of weeks ago i converted my injen Cai back to a short ram to get ready for the winter/wet season. After installing my exhaust and cai...gas mileage went up....i was hitting between 370 to almost 400 miles on a tank of gas....anyway...now that i have converted to the short ram...those figures are dropping significantly....is that because more heat is now being sent through the intake now than when it was a cai....could it be another problem....what is your opinion?

Not surprised. Couple of things come to mind, though. The hot air could be causing the ECU to retard the timing, thus killing the fuel mileage. Also, the different intake might be changing the vehicle's behavior under cold-start conditions. OR, your ECU may not have re-learned the changes to its intake yet.

Generally SR gets better gas mileage than CAI, but who knows. Reset your ECU by pulling the battery cable loose for 10 mins or so then let it idle for another 10 mins without pressing the gas.

Alright....three tanks of gas ran through since disconnecting the battery and then running the car.....first tank after seemed to be more close to the norm but not where it was....then the second tank was on the mark....then third tank was below average again...its not my driving..i guess i shouldnt be complaining too much...i drive the hell out of my car and it still seems to do better than others....its gotta be either more heat because of the short ram or reduced air flow...wouldnt ya think?

Why do you have to let it idle without pressing the gas peddle? What happens if you do press the gas?
