Default When you tell people your getting a TC, do they act like ugh

I called my cousin and told him im getting a Scion TC, and ordered it, and his reaction was like ughh, you did? Like they are disgusted. He hasnt seen one yet, but is like me, a big honda person. Which is what i've always owned. But some reason I wanted the TC. I think the style, fair quickness (supercharger will def help later), and new 05! I didnt sell my other car...which is a 90 integra, in which I love and will prob never sell...but I just dont trust it yet. and the tc will be my daily driver I can rely on, and be happy with! I ordered a Black TC 5spd, with the dang 6-8 week wait...which I hope is just covering their butts, and it'll come earlier! ;)

if you wanna see my other car I'm keeping, but gotta figure out where to store for winter, here is a pic

I had the same problem man. The issue is that when you tell most people that you're getting a Scion they either don't know what it is, or instantly think you're getting the "happy meal on wheels" xB (sorry xB owners, i love the style but it's just not for some people!). So yeah I had to face some guff when I made the announcement, but their opinions changes ENTIRELY as soon as I gave them a ride in my shiny new tC!

Yeah I usually get a "Ugh why are you getting that box thing" but as soon as they see it everyone loves it. I haven't had one person who I've shown it to not tell me how sharp it looks and how they want one.

Ignorance usually ____ess me off, but in tC case, I'm already getting used to it. The less people know about tC - the better for me. Screw them

that's what i got from the reply e-mail that one of my best friends sent to me:

Scion's look lame buddy. If you really want, I can mail a cardboard box with some circles drawn on it for wheels out to SF for you.

i personally think tC's are one of the sharper cars out there
im worried though that tC drivers are going to make fools of themselves
and drive it like a riced out civic
i own a xb but would of loved to get the tc just didnt get my attn
by no means does a tC remind me of a saturn even though it might look like it
all i know is when i saw the the tC
it reminded me of the new S40 which i really wanted but thought was overpriced
oh well
do a good job modding your tC's
there are enough fools ricing out the box already
im sure there will be enough tC drivers doing the same

Uh...didn't she have an xA not an xB? Why would she take offense in the first place? And the more I see the xB the more I like it. I think it grows on you. The xA...not so much. *cough*Echo*cough*

When I tell people I'm getting a tC, their reaction is "What the hell is that?".

When i tell people i'm getting a scion tC. it seems that they just hear the SCION Part, which they have seen to be the Box or the Crazy Egg.

So i'm sure they will be all surprised when they see how NICE the tC is compared to a lot of cars!!!!

Yeah, I clearly stated that I was talking about an xB, and naturally she had to get her two cents in and wasn't even paying attention to the fact that I wasn't even talking about her car... It's ok, Cybergypsy likes to break focus and go on her own little tC-hating-tangents. You go ahead and get that plastic Saturn, Cybergypsy. Meanwhile I'll be rollin' in style

ban the troll ban the troll!

original poster, your DA looks really good, any more pics? I've always been a Honda guy too, my last three cars were Integras; first a '92 da9, second a '94 ls (dc4), and lastly a '95 RS-turbo(dc4). I miss my turbo teg, but I figured it was time to move on.
as far as people's reaction, no one ever knows what the hell a tC is, but when I show people my car all I get are good comments..

i think its that most ppl dont know about the tC yet. My friends that know the car world think is an awesome car, but alot of ppl either dont know what Scion is or only know it for the xB which many ppl seem not to like. After I explain to them all the features of the tC, they all go WOW it sounds awesome!

I dont see the resemblance of a saturn in the tC at all.. sorry... what i do see is audi/bmw/lexus (has a very IS 300 look to the front fascia)/volvo. all of which, put anything ever made by saturn to shame.

It's funny. Most people who ask what kind of car I drive think it's the hybrid Prius for some odd reason. The next thing they assume is that my car gets a million miles to the gallon. Then I tell them what it really is, what the car really gets, and they like it nonetheless because it is just kick ___ cool (they just never heard of Scion before).

If anyone cares what other people think, just go out there and get a Ford Mustang or a Honda Civic. You'll have the widest acceptance by the masses.

If you want to be an individual and make an educated car buying choice buy a Scion.
