vanhate 07-30-2004, 10:08 AM Just over 4 grand for both front and rear. Kinda steep, but nice!
DJ_SpaRky 07-30-2004, 11:00 AM WTF is with those rotors?? they look like flowers or something. I'd be more interested if they were round. But at least, somebody is making them.

Minsk99 07-30-2004, 09:25 PM I recently read an interesting article about how bigger front brakes don't always improve stopping power. The basic premise was that the brake force distribution got messed up (so to speak) and could therefore reduce stopping power despite the fact that the brakes felt more responsive etc. I wonder if there would be any similar problems with just converting the rear brakes without adjusting the brake force distribution valve? Also would the ABS system get confused? I'm assuming that the car would be delivering more brake force to the rear then the computer was thinking? Anyway, food for thought.
The best rear kit available is from High on Scion (highonscion.com). The entire kit w/ hub adapter, and functional emergency brake is less than $950. Now here is a deal!!

WOW!!! This is a great find! Anyone ordered one of these yet? Does it work with the ABS/VCS/TC, etc?
Al-Truistic 07-31-2004, 01:34 AM Seeing the factory rear brakes through my rims makes me want to get an upgrade but, that's alot of cash. I kind of like the crazy clover look of the Brakeman kit. Are any of these kits going to be easy to install? The Kingsmart.com kit seems more affordable :D...
I've wondered is our ABS truluy ABS even though the rears are drum brakes? My friend always points that out and I always say: "- that's what the dealer advertised!"
Flipper_style 07-31-2004, 01:44 AM For that amount you could make the Mystery Machine to match

Does any one know what size wheel you need to clear these? Also would the 4 Piston Front brake kit for the echo also fit? If these things fit under the normal 13" or 14" Echo wheels that would be sweet!!
Edit: spelling.
turtles808 08-12-2004, 12:21 AM The wave discs are supposed to be the best with cooling and stopping force. Just look at any race prep motorcycle. I have these on my bike and they work like magic.
Brake pads don't last as long though obviously. Replacement disc also cost an arm... maybe some of your leg.
Don't think it's worth the price unless you're going racing.
I would get the kingsmart kit if someone can tell me the effects it will have with the ABS.
DGTLLVR 08-17-2004, 02:11 AM The Brake Man? Gimme a break, man... sorry had to go there. WHO in their right mind would buy something as critical as brakes from someone with an AOL.COM e-mail address? I could see if the brakes were round, as brakes should be and they were priced at $14 or something, where the guy made NO money on the sale. Then I would expect him to not be able to afford $4 a month for a real e-mail address. I mean seriously here folks, he has www.thebrakeman.com. The domain is his, how could he not be able to afford to get e-mail set up on it?
Please think before you buy anything on the net.
chucksu 08-17-2004, 05:28 PM As a update. I emailed king smart & he said to run the 4 Piston front brake upgrade you need 16" wheels.
