No pics. Max allowable as per the link below is 215.

But 40 series is really low. You'll need 245(wide) 40 series tires to compensate from the stock 185x60x15 tires (as per http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html). You will get some rubbing issues because it's too wide (245).

i think you may have confused 16 as being the width, im talking about the diameter.

Because 40 series refers to the aspect ratio in percentage of width you would need a 245/40 to have the same 23.7' overall heigt of the stock wheel/tire. a 205/40 or 215/40 would much shorter overall.

i know the overall height would be smaller, that is the look i am trying to acheive. i dont necessarily want to go back to orginal height. i can aproximate my speed according to the traffic around me.
