Default New Trend: Lights so bright they blind other drivers

I don't know if this is only happening here in NYC but I felt it had to be mentioned. I drive my xB maybe only 1 or 2 days out of the week. In the past month or so, I have been driving at night, and noticed people driving in the opposite direction (If we're on a 2-way road) and they have lights on that are so bright it honestly makes me squint! The other really annoying thing is that they are intentionally aimed upwards so they face other cars, and not onto the roads as required by law!

This is dangerous and I want to do something about it (something like installing brighter lights on my xB to "flip on" ONLY WHEN someone with bright lights is on the other side of the road...

I know HIDs... and I know bright fog lights... But the lights that I am talking about are sooo bright and many people have them - it's a crazy new trend or something...

I'm wondering if anyone else on this board has crazy bright fog/driving lights on their box... and I'm wondering if they have had any trouble with law enforcement yet...

To be rather honest, I feel like buying two ONE MILLION CANDEL POWER halogen spotlights and turning them into fog lights...

^^^ lol - naw. I've seen bright lights but recently they've been really insanely bright. NYC is strict on lights so I haven't seen these often. I've seen bright lights like these on the back of cars a while ago - never in the front and always on like they're legal lights!

about them swerving, i will make sure i'm a little far from them. thanks for the tip tho! ;]

I already have 130 decibel horns (see link in my sig)... These lights are needed... why do people f with you on the road for no reason? oh well, i'll make them regret being a$$h0les ;]

LOL. I would only turn on the lights when someone else with insanely bright lights is driving by... I am not a jerk when it comes to that stuff. same with my 130db horns - I only use it when some NYC jacka$$ drives do stupid things - stop for no reason, try to come into my lane, etc.

with power comes responsibility. ;]

I am trying to find a place where I can buy the stock xB fog light CASING only... I don't wanna shell out $200 into getting the entire assembly + wiring, etc. I just need the fog lights themselves. anyone have any clues on where I can get just the casing?

I feel like I should go on wreckedscions.com and start soliciting wrecked box owners for parts l0l

Thanks you guys in advance!

i use to have 4 100 watt lights on the front of my xB, when some one came at me with brights, i flashed them with my regular brights, 99.9% of the time they dont turn their brights off, so with the flip of a switch, they quickly turned those brights off!!!

I know a few xB owners here in Central Florida have been warned by police for having aftermarket bright headlights.

It's annoying but in almost every case, its 10 - 30 seconds before the person is gone, so I don't bother.

rallying_the_scion , know what you mean. I love being out in my wifes Jeep and having to use those 120 watt KC Daylighters on those that are too lazy to turn off their brights. Can we say daytime??? LOL
